SUMMARY:

The Coordinator, Career Development is the primary point of contact for student career development at Huron.

The priority for this position is to support all students in developing personalized career pathway plans, including volunteer, internship, mentorship and professional development experiences and opportunities.

This position will also be responsible for assessing and redesigning career development programming and for external outreach including networking with alumni, employers, associations, and community partners to secure, learn about and monitor the quality of volunteer, internship, and mentorship opportunities.

This role will be responsible for the development, implementation, and ongoing coordination of an agile career development program, partnering with both external and internal stakeholders to support the student experience at Huron.

In addition, the incumbent will develop and provide unique and tailored opportunities for students to work with professionals aligned with their career aspirations and to demonstrate the value of a Liberal Arts education at Huron.


Specifically, the Coordinator, Career Development will support:
Student Advising

  • Proactively engages and works with students oneonone and in groups to coconstruct development plans that align with their career objectives.
  • Applies critical thinking during advising meetings to provide support when faced with situations of ambiguity.
  • Works with students to identify, apply, prepare for and secure volunteer and internship opportunities.
  • Advises students on professional communication skills for career development and provides strategies for ongoing success.
  • Coordinates student connections with peers and professionals.
Technology and Administration

  • Adopts and utilizes existing Salesforce technology available to track student records and interactions.
  • Identifies opportunities for service enhancement using existing technology.
  • Maintains uptodate records regarding curricular and extracurricular student activities on and off campus.
  • Utilizes existing technology to track progress related to annual metrics for reporting purposes.
Programming Development and Evaluation

  • Establishes, designs, evaluates and updates Career Development programs, services, processes and resources to ensure a highquality student experience.
  • Maintains ongoing knowledge of workforce trends and provides adaptive programming that aligns with community needs and expectations.
  • Designs and delivers student resources, student workshops and events.
  • Establishes and monitors internship programming for students.
Community Engagement

  • Identifies prospective organizations to target for experiences based on student interests.
  • Connects with employers and external organizations to develop career development workshops and events programming.
  • Connects with employers and external organizations to conduct performance assessments while simultaneously further promoting Huron's career development programming.
  • Documents and followsup on action items related to employer interactions.
  • Attends community events relevant to role and student interests to develop and maintain professional relationships.

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Completed Undergraduate degree from an accredited institution;
  • Additional education related to Educational Counselling or Career Development Practitioner certification would be considered an asset;
  • A minimum of two (2) years related experience in a similar role developing and coordinating career development opportunities in a postsecondary environment;
