    Job Description:

    Key responsibilities:

  • Ownership of the Safety Leadership agenda at Gahcho Kué Mine, demonstrating visible felt leadership that exemplifies and instils a culture of Zero Harm;
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant safety, health, environmental and regulatory standards, procedures and business practices, whilst proactively identifying and mitigating risk;
  • Delivering against the mine's annual operating plan and budget within strategic business and Life of Mine contexts and in accordance with all safety, financial, quality and time parameters;
  • Driving business and asset improvement initiatives consistent with the strategic plans of De Beers Group and Gahcho Kué Mine joint venture partner Mountain Province Diamonds;
  • Contributing to the development of strategic business and operational plans for Gahcho Kué Mine and the wider De Beers Group business; and
  • Ensures that the required organizational model, structure, people capability, culture and leadership are in place, continuously optimized and aligned to achieve the future ambitions of the business.
  • This is a site-based position requiring weekly travel to Gahcho Kué Mine in the Northwest Territories from Monday to Thursday on a 4 days in/3 days out rotation.

    Qualifications:
  • Relevant Bachelor's degree or equivalent required;
  • Fifteen (15) years of senior management experience leading large-scale mining operations of a similar size and complexity within a large corporation;
  • Experience in leading a remote fly-in fly-out (FIFO) operation, workforce and logistics;
  • Experience of leading mining operations and/or a track record of operational leadership across multiple cultures/ geographies will be an advantage;
  • Proven safety and health leadership, environmental stewardship and positive community engagement track record;
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the gravitas to engage audiences across multiple contexts and levels;
  • Highly organized with excellent operational, project management and analytical skills;
  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship building skills, including the ability to engage effectively with local government, regulatory officials, community leadership; and
  • Excellent team leadership skills to promote accountability, role model and high-performance behaviours fostering a climate that is inclusive, collaborative, open to change and where people feel safe to speak up.
