JMT Consultants Inc. is a growing structural consulting firm seeking an Estimator to join our dedicated team. For individuals outside of the Winnipeg area, we offer an exciting relocation expenses package.

We are seeking a skilled, motivated Estimator to join our growing team. They will be able to problem solve and make sound decisions to ensure project timelines are met. You must have keen attention to detail and skills at estimating projects comprehensively to set our clients' expectations accurately.

Responsibilities:


  • Prepare and complete budgetary and final estimating of scopes of work.
  • Read blueprints and analyze all other applicable documents to prepare estimates.
  • Use knowledge to focus work and drive short and longterm solutions.
  • Assess projects by identifying project requirements regarding time, labor, and material costs
  • Responsible for detailed cost estimates and qualification development for bid proposals
  • Perform detailed structural and miscellaneous takeoffs
  • Collaborate with contractors, engineers, and architects during estimate creation to ensure overall accuracy
  • Present estimates to clients in a timely and polite manner
  • Other projects as assigned
  • Assist with Project Controls (Schedule/Cost control)

Qualifications:

  • Must be proficient with MS Office, especially Excel
  • Tekla Powerfab or Fabsuite experience is an asset but not required.
  • Work experience in tilt panels, manufacturing facilities, and schools is an asset but not required.
  • The ability to read blueprints is an asset.
  • Ability to operate independently or with a team
  • Interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Critical thinking, analytical, and organizational skills
  • Must be familiar with a wide range of worksites, cost structures, and timelines

Requirements:


  • Diploma/certificate
  • Canadian Citizenship/Legally able to work in Canada

- construction estimating: 3 years (required)

  • Bluebeam: 1 year (required)
  • Blueprint reading: 1 year (required)
Microsoft Excel: 1 year (required)
