    JOB SUMMARY:

    As a member of Generation Civil Engineering Services team with Engineering and Construction, this position is responsible for providing technical expertise, contract and project management for capital projects related to existing and new power plants infrastructures. This position is responsible for assisting with and preparing structural and civil designs, specifications, drawings, technical studies, business cases, contract documents and tender evaluations, project plans, costs, and schedules and provide contract management and project coordination services, ensuring alignment with departmental and corporate strategic goals and objectives.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:


    • Civil/Structural design, technical specification development either in-house or working with a consultant.

    • Analyze & design concrete and steel structures and structural members.

    • Work with project team in a multidiscipline environment collaboratively to produce design deliverables with the appropriate level of details.

    • Project and contract management in a multidiscipline environment including planning, execution, monitoring and controlling cost, schedule, and risk.

    • Collaborate with internal management and operation staff, and external consultants to ensure high quality, constructible design

    • Provide technical assistance during construction as a lead design engineer and contract administrator.

    • Perform technical and economic analysis of alternative solutions for project business cases, and make recommendations on courses of action

    • Provide direction to engineer-in-training, technologists, consultants, and management staff as required.

    KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:


    • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering

    • Professional Engineering Designation P.Eng. and relevant experience in a combination of the following engineering tasks: planning facilities, performing analysis, design, contract management and project management.

    • Good design and contract management experience with demonstrated competency in structural design codes and engineering/industry standards

    • Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with various departments and team members (internal and external)

    • Results oriented thinker, with the ability to manage and provide advice regarding complex and confidential issues with sensitivity and professionalism

    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

    • Excellent facilitation and decision-making skills

    • Ability to foster a culture focused on safety, innovation, and teamwork

    NOTES

    • Engineer-In-Training applications will be accepted and may be considered for this position

    • If the successful applicant appointed to this position is an EIT, the key accountabilities as well as knowledge/skills/abilities will align with the job description and expectations of an Engineer-In-Training. The applicant will retain the title of Engineer-In-Training and remain compensated at that level until such a time that they are eligible for a Professional Engineer position either through bidding or P. Eng designation process.
