About the Position:

Reporting to the Regional Controller, the Commodities Accounting Manager is responsible for the team and the overall accounting process surrounding commodities and metals-related activities for the Glencore Group's North American Copper operations


More specifically, you will:


  • Lead the team responsible for the accounting and reporting of commodity and metal contract activities for North American Copper Assets.
  • Direct and enhance the measurement, recognition and reporting of financial information in connection with the purchase, sale and processing of various metals and commodities, in addition to hedging activities.
  • Lead activities during internal and external audits.
  • Cooperate with the Metal Accounting Department to periodically establish the book value of inventories.
  • Support the Sales Department in analyzing and entering contracts into the various systems for accounting purposes and managing settlement terms;
  • Participate in the monthend process by reviewing team activities;
  • Lead and participate in the department's business improvement processes, and in projects to update commodity management and accounting systems;
  • Ensure that compliance controls are properly applied and that processes and standards are complied with;
  • Work closely with other team members and departments to achieve departmental objectives.

Skills:


  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration in accounting or finance combined with a minimum of 10 years' experience in a similar position
  • Hold a CPA professional designation
  • Experience in planning and disclosing financial information in a mining, industrial or manufacturing environment in a public or international business context (an asset)
  • Internal controls skills and experience in Sarbanes-Oxley Act requirements
  • Knowledge of SAP software (an asset)
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels, demonstrated by the ability to establish excellent working relationships.

Languages:
Bilingual (English and French)
Travel: This position may be based in Laval, Montreal-Est, or Rouyn-Noranda, and requires occasional travel between the two sites (Horne Smelter and CCR Refinery)
