In this role, you can expect to:

  • Review month-end tasks and working papers, including capital assets, other current assets, and current liabilities
  • Assist in preparing financial reporting package for the CFO and the parent company
  • Prepare accounting treatment analysis when required
  • Review and summarize contracts that include contingencies and future obligations
  • Become a liaison between the Accounting team and other stakeholders in the Company
  • Oversee indirect tax filing, including VAT, GST, PST, and worldwide sales taxes
  • Ad Hoc tax compliance matters and managing filing
  • Support the team with SOX implementation and compliance
  • Review periodic payroll journals and reconcile payrollrelated accounts
  • Prepare complicated working papers such as bonus accrual, payroll reconciliation, and new leases
  • Work closely with the payroll team on projects and initiatives
  • Review weekly bank reconciliation and periodic wire transfers
  • Support AP team with biweekly pay runs

Your background includes:


  • 510 years of experience in accounting, preferably in a technology company of medium to large size
  • 12 years of leadership and/or managerial experience
  • CPA or CA designation
  • Strong operational accounting experience, including managing AP functions, monthend closes, various tax filings, etc
  • Experience in public practice, especially in pubco audit, is an asset
  • Demonstrated proficiency in managing projects and developing or improving policies, procedures, and controls used in accounting systems
  • Strong knowledge in SOX, and IFRS or US GAAP
  • Experience in US and Canadian Tax
  • Expert in accounting systems (e.g. Netsuite and Concur)
  • Advanced knowledge of formulas and pivot tables and ability to build basic financial models in Excel
  • Communicates in a clear, concise and professional manner with staff at all levels; influences and leads team to achieve project goals; Explains/presents complex ideas
  • Supports skill development for others; inspires teamwork; creates and sustains a positive work environment; mentors junior team members.
  • Collaborates effectively with others in the same department, across feature groups and crossdiscipline regularly; works closely with leads group (all departments)
