Lead, Utility Services

Permanent, Full-Time (40 hours/week)

$85, $106,413.00/annum


About the Opportunity:


Reporting to the Manager, Utility Services, the Lead, Utility Services is responsible for daily operation of all functions within the Water, Wastewater and Storm Water areas, including supervision of staff, risk management, asset management, budgets and compliance with legislated requirements and safe work practices.

Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Oversee and supervise Utility Services Operators and their daily operations
  • Provide training, technical advice and guidance to ensure compliance with all standards and guidelines set out in the AB Environment Municipal Waterworks, Wastewater & Storm Drainage Systems documents
  • Customer Service
  • Troubleshoot, repair and maintain storm and sanitary laterals
  • Operation and maintenance of lift stations
  • Perform water quality testing and analysis
  • Operation and maintenance of associated equipment
  • Operation and maintenance of all associated water valves
  • Testing, operation and maintenance of fire hydrants
  • Installation and repair of water meters
  • Operation and maintenance of storage reservoirs and associated pumping facilities
  • Operation and maintenance of all associated equipment
  • Plan, develop and review both operational and capital budgets, including Asset Management, in consultation with Manager, Utility Services

Qualifications:

  • At minimum, a Certificate or Diploma in WWW, or related area of study, from an accredited institution
  • At minimum, 3 to 5 years' related experience in industry
  • Alberta Environment Level 3 Certification in Water Distribution and Waste Water Collection
  • Confined Space Entry Certification
  • Standard First Aid Certification
  • Working knowledge of WHMIS, OH&S standards
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite, Geomatics Information Systems, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition systems
  • Proven supervisory experience, working in a teamoriented, collaborative environment
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize workload efficiently
  • Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to interact with the public and external stakeholders
  • Class 5 Driver's License with no more than 6 demerits points
  • Previous municipal experience would be an asset
  • Must be willing to provide a current Driver's Abstract at time of interview, at own expense
