Job Overview:


The Labour Relations Consultant is responsible for providing support to internal client groups on Labour Relations issues, Attendance Management, Discipline, and collective agreement interpretation along with tracking related procedures at all stages.

The incumbent is accountable for developing dynamic partnerships with key stakeholders in the business and in the Union.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Acts as a first point of contact for a specified client group in either Field Operations or Corporate office, and/or a combination of both unionized and nonunionized staff
  • Provides counseling on attendance management, performance issues, disciplinary measures.
  • Responds to requests from the Union, Canada Labour, Human Rights Commission and any other governing body
  • May lead and/or participate in workplace investigations, and/or counsel with internal investigators to ensure matters are escalated and dealt with in accordance with Company Policy and/or legislation

Critical Qualifications:


  • 24 years labour relations or union experience within a unionized environment
  • Excellent written and/oral communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skill and able to interact at all levels of the organization
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a fastpaced environment
  • Ability to work under pressure and think critically

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to work with a diverse workforce
  • Proven leaderships and business acumen
  • Practical knowledge of the Canada Labour Code
  • Experience with grievances and arbitrations

Adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
