Position Overview:

The Corporate Controller position is responsible for the development of solid financial discipline as an aid to decision making.

This position is an integral part of our management team, and will be involved in analyzing, reporting, and communicating monthly, quarterly, and annual financial results and variances to senior management and to operational supervisors.

This position will also ensure that our fiscal planning is strategic and sound at both the divisional and consolidated level.

This position will implement and oversee the finance, accounting and budgeting process and report directly to the CEO.


What you will be doing:


  • Work closely with the CEO in implementing and managing sound financial decision making in strategic plans and projects.
  • Build positive and trusted relationships with the Board of Directors, the Senior Management Team, direct reports as well as external stakeholders.
  • In conjunction with the CEO, prepare the financial section of the board deck and regularly attend the corporate board meetings to present the financial section of the presentation.
  • Manage and oversee the Finance team which includes recruiting, developing, mentoring, project delegation, and performance management, etc.
  • Coordinate daily work for all accounting staff to ensure customer, vendor and business partner requirements are met on a timely basis.
  • Review, maintain and approve all Hi-Kalibre Equipment's financial planning, financial statements at the divisional and consolidated level, analysis, and reporting.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards, financial covenants and applicable laws and regulations in the US and Canada.
  • Work with Senior Management Team to integrate and oversee a longterm financial strategy and financial KPIs which support cash flow forecasting, revenue growth, cost savings, process improvements, business development opportunities and capital plans.
  • Generate insightful financial reports and forecasting that portrays Hi-Kalibre Equipment's financial journey, providing clear visibility into our financial health and progress toward our financial targets.
  • Translate financial data that unveils trends, opportunities, and risks, that allows the CEO, COO, and CGO to make informed strategic decisions in operations and sales.
  • Perform financial analysis to provide cost savings and profitmaximizing ideas, reviewing performance against industry and internal KPIs, identifying trends, and developing sound financial strategies.
  • Responsible for performing financial risk management by analyzing the organization's financial risks and ensuring internal controls and policies are in place in order to mitigate risks, including coordination of credit risk with CGO.
  • Oversee treasury management which includes management of investment strategies, cash flow and liquidity risks, control and evaluation the organization's financing plans and capital structure, and management of all components of currency exchange and currency hedging.
  • First point of contact for management of commercial insurance for both Canadian and US Operations.
  • Manage and oversee administration of budgeting, and work with senior managers and line managers to develop long term cash flow forecasting, and annual implementation of budget.
  • Manage and oversee administration and improvement of our GL and enable financial structure that supports our operations and sales efforts.
  • Work in conjunction with our accounting partners to develop and maintain a transfer pricing policy and an overall corporate structure to ensure we have an effective tax strategy, and timely filing of all tax submissions.
  • Work closely with the Assistant Controller and complete Assistant Controller's duties when absent.
  • Oversee the development and documentation of business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
  • Assist senior managers in obtaining industry competitive quotes and service contracts on fixed costs for facilities, services, machinery, and other expenses.
  • Coordinate and manage external yearend financial auditing.
  • Take ownership of and maintain assets and depreciation of equipment.
  • Take on special projects as they relate to Finance and Accounting.
  • Broader work and/or accountabilities may be assigned as needed by management.

Required Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:_

  • Degree or MBA in accounting, business accounting, or finance.
  • CPA designation required.
