Then look no further The Edmonton Young Offender Centre is searching for motivated individuals and positive role models with cultural and community awareness for a permanent Correctional Service Worker (CSW) position.
As a Correctional Service Worker, you will use your influence with young persons and adult females to motivate and encourage long-term behavior change, prepare them for return to society and promote the use of services and programs.
This opportunity will appeal to individuals who enjoy a challenging work environment and are looking for a chance to demonstrate their well-developed leadership and interpersonal skills.
Exceptional interpersonal skills are essential in establishing and maintaining positive relationships with youths, staff, and the public.Due to the sensitive nature of the information in this work environment, your ability to maintain confidentiality and use appropriate discretion is essential.
You will also influence and encourage positive behavior in this environment through your strong leadership and communication skills. You are able to work in a changing environment, cope with high stress, and define clear and healthy boundaries.You demonstrate integrity, have awareness of cultural diversity and are able to communicate ideas and information with professional and objective tone.
Strong attention to detail, multitasking abilities and excellent written and verbal communication skills will be crucial to this position. Additional permanent and temporary positions may be filled from this competition.Qualifications:
Correctional Service Worker 1:
2 year diploma in a related field and 2 years of related experience
Equivalency:
1 year related certificate and 2 years of related experience
- Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or 1 year of experience for 1 year of education
Correctional Service Worker 2:
University graduation in a related field plus at least 2 years related experience is required; or equivalent as described below:
- Two year diploma in a related field plus 4 years related experience; OR
- Completion of the inservice Criminal Justice Certificate plus 5 years related experience (applicable only to employees who have completed the certificate prior to it being discontinued on December 31, 2017).
Equivalencies will be considered on the basis of:
- One year of related experience for one year of related education or;
- One year of related education for one year of related experience
Special Requirements:
- Must be physically able to perform position duties.
- Must hold a valid driver's license.

Salary:
Correctional Service Worker 1:
$2,289.04 to $2,958.66 bi-weekly ($59,743 to $77,221/year)
Correctional Service Worker 2:
$2,491.87 to $3,222.12 bi-weekly ($65,037 to $84,097/year)
Notes:
This competition will be used for fill 3 full time permanent positions at the Centre
Standard hours are will be 36.25 hours per week.
The Edmonton Young Offender Centre is located at Street NW Edmonton. The EYOC is a Non-smoking environment.
