    Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Communications, the Senior Specialist, Corporate Communications, will support in planning and executing media relations activities, employee communications and social media content for Sun Life Canada's Office of the President, Client Experience Office, Strategy & Growth, and Operations portfolios. In this role, you'll be a key member of the team drafting communications, leading event planning and logistics, tracking metrics and conducting analysis, and taking on other strategic projects.

    What will you do?

  • Collaborate with the Manager to develop and execute Sun Life Canada's Office of the President, Client Experience Office, Strategy & Growth, and Operation's PR and internal communications strategies
  • Draft and implement integrated communications plans supporting internal and external business initiatives
  • Construct internal employee communications including intranet articles, e-mails, Workplace by Facebook posts and presentations
  • Draft and co-ordinate necessary communications tactics for internal events such as virtual employee town halls
  • Identify key media opportunities and generate proactive and timely pitching ideas
  • Assist in media content creation including media briefs, news releases, pitches and speaking remarks
  • Develop social media tactics including LinkedIn thought leadership pieces to help tell a 'One Sun' Life story
  • Help ensure metrics are in place to track results and effectiveness of communications activities
  • What do you need to succeed?

  • Post-secondary education in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or another related field
  • 3-5 years in a communications or media relations role with internal communications experience; experience in Financial Services is an asset
  • Proven track record in communications with an understanding of internal and external audiences, as well as the needs of different media outlets (print, trade, social, broadcast,) and social media channels
  • Exceptional written communications skills including editing, proofreading and attention to detail, with the ability to pitch media, write for external audiences and coordinate incoming media opportunities
  • Design skills including PowerPoint and Adobe Suite
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships, and open to trying new, visual, and creative strategies to engage employees
  • Strong organization skills with the ability to work independently, exercise judgment, multi-task and deliver measurable results within prescribed timeframes
  • Bilingual (English/French) an asset
