INTRO

The Infrastructure Analyst provides architecture, design, and operational maintenance services for CNL's server, storage, and cloud computing requirements by drawing upon their in-depth, knowledge and understanding of key infrastructure technologies and toolsets.

They have a "security first" mindset that ensures information, infrastructure, and systems are designed and operated with cyber security as a primary consideration.

They provide ongoing direct support for storage provisioning and third-level support of infrastructure portfolios including problem resolution, upgrades, and enhancements.

They understand business use for analytical, scientific, and design codes and tools with assistance of QA and validation on technical computing platforms while providing policies and practices for Operating System installation and configuration.

They track new developments in the technologies used within CNL's Data Centre and primary cloud providers, assessing applicability to current and future Data Centre and business challenges and needs.


DUTIES

  • Gathers and documents user requirements on single business processes and translates those needs into functional designs as part of a project team. Acts as a Technical Lead on projects of medium complexity (e.g. researches and implements new infrastructure technologies).
  • Creatively defines and designs IT infrastructure solutions to address technical and business needs. Develops a high degree of expertise with one or more critical IT Infrastructure component.
  • Typically expands on existing solution templates or develop new paradigms and innovative solutions. Designs and/or specifies generalized solutions, at the level of architectural redesign to existing systems and new technologies (e.g. adoption of new technologies such as virtualization). Develops and acts on technology implementation plans aligned to defined strategies.
  • Analyzes and designs technical computing process and systems including and understanding of software build processes and compiler variations.
  • Specifies next generation server, storage, cloud, and/or technical computing hardware and software components, including Operating System, monitoring and management tools, etc.
  • Provisions server hardware selection and testing. Implements and integrates commercial software purchases in support of the server, storage and technical computing infrastructure.
  • Defines specification of server, storage, and technical computing hardware and associated software.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education

  • Graduation from a recognized educational institution in computer science, computer technician, data networking, or
  • Graduation from an equivalent formal educational program and relevant IT experience.
Experience

  • Five of more years of prior experience in an IT Infrastructure Analyst or similar role to gain designrelated expertise with IT Infrastructure technologies.
  • Understanding of CNLspecific practices and processes.
Abilities and Skills

  • Advanced skills in system administration and technologyspecific toolsets.
  • Advanced technology troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to develop standards and protocols.
  • Advanced critical thinking and analysis skills, especially with respect to IT Infrastructure technologies.
  • Ability to accurately estimate projectrelated costs, effort and schedule.
  • Effective oral and written communications skills required to effectively present and communicate ideas, document solutions and develop strategies and plans.
Job/ Industry Specific Knowledge

  • Architecturespecific certifications are desirable, such as Microsoft MCSE, Red Hat RHCE, SNIA SNCP, etc.
  • Project management tools including planning software (e.g. MS Project, SharePoint).
  • Familiarity with cloudbased InfastructureasaService (Iaas) and SoftwareasaService (SaaS) such as Microsoft M365, Amazon, and Oracle.
  • Works closely with vendors during the installation phase to identify and document potential problems and their solution.
