The Opportunity:


We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Equipment Operator to join the Transportation Team within the Operations & Utilities Division.

The position reports to the Transportation Team Leader and is responsible for work such as:


  • Safe operation of heavy equipment and manual labour supporting the maintenance and repair of the Town transportation network.
  • Assessing, repairing and general maintenance of the Town storm water collection system, overland drainage systems, snow removal, sanding and street cleaning services.
  • Ensuring equipment is clean, inspected and maintained daily and that the supervisor is informed of potential maintenance service issues.
  • Ensuring a high level of service and product is provided to the residents of the Town and all internal customers.
  • Providing leadership and expertise to crews, ensuring work is completed as defined by the Leader in compliance with Town and legislative standards.

What You Bring
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying.

A typical way to qualify is equivalency to High School Education, as well as:

  • 3 or more years related work experience representing continuous learning
  • A valid Alberta Class 3 driver's license or higher with Q endorsement
  • Experience operating two or more of the following pieces of equipment: loader, skid steer, grader, back hoe, and excavator is considered an asset
  • Ability to work flexible hours Tuesday to Saturday and participate in the standby rotation
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Ability to complete basic safety training
  • Municipal experience is considered an asset
