Summary:
Reporting to the Coordinator of the Withdrawal Management Service (WMS), the incumbent will be responsible for the delivery of high quality WM care to clients based on the community and day withdrawal models of care


This includes:
screening of clients, coordinating necessary support services, monitoring the withdrawal process, and keeping accurate records of client care. As well, be responsible for caring out assessments and performing auricular acupuncture on individuals and in group settings.

In addition the incumbent will facilitate education regarding WM issues to care providers in other residential facilities and create networking opportunities.- DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Performs initial screening of clients to the Service: which can, based on physical assessment, include referral to emergency or other appropriate services, or admittance to withdrawal management service; opening new files with necessary personal data, entering observation notes on condition of client overseeing admitting procedures- Facilitates Auricular Acupuncture for Residential & Day Clients- Facilitates psycho education and life skills groups for Day Clients- Participates in case management meetings and assumes primary worker responsibilities for several clients.

Develops treatment plans with the clients and helps facilitate referrals to other agencies/programs.- Maintains records of clients including: completing progress reports, and completing clients files at the time of discharge from the service.

Enter client data into computer program.- Supervises the Day and Community clients to ensure they are not in residential area of building.- Performs other duties as required.

- QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:

  • Two-year college diploma in Human Services majoring in addictions and/or mental health or equivalent combination of training and education such as a bachelor¿s degree in behavioural science with addiction work experience.
  • Certification as an Acu-Detoxification Specialist
  • Minimum 2 years¿ experience working in the addictions field and must be familiar with the addictions continuum and other sector partners which may be a support to the client population.
  • Knowledge of Withdrawal Management Services and related functions.
  • Sound clinical knowledge of withdrawal symptoms and appropriate interventions.
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team framework
  • Knowledge of Community Withdrawal Management Service models of care
  • Must be comfortable working with clients in diverse external locations and have skills to engage family members of clients
  • Ability to work flexible hours is a requirement of the position.
  • Good attendance record
  • Willingness to attend required training
