    Summary of the Position

    The successful candidate will identify community needs and implement various action programs using appropriate techniques. They will also serve as a resource person for community groups.

    Requirements

    • Must have a CEGEP diploma with a core concentration in social work techniques or a CEGEP certificate in social techniques or social counseling techniques.
    • Completed Charlie Training or willing to follow training.
    • Completed PCFI Training or willing to follow training.

    Knowledge and Abilities

    • Knowledge of Cree culture and social/health issues in Eeyou Istchee.
    • Knowledge of Eenou/Eeyou Pimaatsiiun healing practices and paradigms is an asset.
    • Ability to communicate with people, conduct interviews, and establish helping relationships.
    • Interest and ability in paperwork and written reports.
    • Willingness to learn about 1st line services and work with CLSC clientele.
    • Ability to collaborate with CLSC Community worker, NNADAP worker, and other medical Social Services staff.
    • Flexibility to work occasional hours outside regular working hours.
    • Sensitivity to women's issues.
    • Understanding of families and human relations.
    • Initiative, dynamism, and sense of responsibility.
    • Excellent interpersonal and listening communication skills.
    • Autonomy, flexibility, discretion, and empathy.
    • Teamwork skills.
    • Dynamism.

    Language

    • Fluency in English and Cree.
    • French fluency is an asset.

    Other

    • Available for on-call periods.
