Specific Accountabilities:

Partnership Development

  • Identifies potential partners and develops research partnerships with external partners and supports staff and faculty with the development of project ideas and project partnerships.
  • Coordinates partnership development activities including prospecting and cold calling, to create strong research collaborations to enhance Lambton College's research portfolio including all 6 research centres.
  • Identifies potential external research partners
  • Collaborates with external partners to identify research opportunities.
  • Identify the most appropriate project model to support projects including contract services, capstone, studentled or lead researcher required
  • Identify new areas of research
  • Identify new funding opportunities to support research projects
  • Searches for existing regional, provincial, national and international research priorities and challenges to support College and department
  • Support and mentor new business developers and researchers supporting business development activities.
  • Communicates with partners of new researchers for feedback on research project activities and progression and identify any concerns
Data Collection and Analyzation

  • Collaborates with Research Centres to collects and coordinates data regarding projects, personnel and partners to identify key performance indicators.
  • Develops and implements data analyses, data collection systems and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality.
  • Creates dashboards, reports, and Power BI apps
  • Identify key insights
  • Interprets data, analyzing results using statistical techniques.
  • Develops and implements databases and data collection systems.
  • Acquires data from primary and secondary sources and maintain data systems.
  • Identifying, analyzing, and interpreting trends or patterns.

About the Position:


This is a full-time support staff Bargaining Unit position reporting to the Partnership, Strategic Initiatives and Communication Manager working 35 hours per week at an hourly rate of $30.00.


The Business Development Coordinator will be accountable for the development, and facilitation of new partnerships and projects in the Research & Innovation department, including contract services and traditional applied research projects.

In addition they will be responsible for determining partners' eligibility for external funding programs.

Additionally, the Business Development Coordinator will maintain the CRM database and develop internal reports using the collected data.

He/she/they will remain current on provincial, federal, and other research development funds; assist RI leaders and centres in identifying and new areas of research and potential partners.


Qualifications:


  • 3 year post secondary diploma/degree in Business Marketing, Public Relations or equivalent combination of education and related work experience
  • One year of experience in research development management and proposal preparation
  • Experience in developing research partnerships and working with researchers and partners.
  • Comprehensive understanding and experience of various funding programs (local, regional provincial and federal programs, NSERC (ARTP, Mobilized ARD) SSHRC, OCI (VIP), FedDev (AMF, ICP), CFI-CIIF, ORF), proposal process and its requirements, technical and strategic vision behind the project and funding programs.
  • Experience in prospecting
  • Awareness about College, local, provincial and national strategies and priorities.
  • Comprehensive awareness about College capacity in various areas of focus.
  • Experience gathering and analyzing data
  • Experience using data software
  • Ability to deal professionally and effectively with people at all levels in and outside of the College
