THE ROLE

As a Store Manager, you provide retail services to a unique client base - members of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) and in assisting them, you are helping your community.


You manage the store operations:

maintaining and maximizing sales while controlling expenditures and reviewing stock relative to sales and gross profit, taking corrective action if needed.

You ensure the latest market changes, operating procedures and corporate selling practices are applied and provide coaching to employees regarding these practices.

The Store Manager develops marketing strategies and ensures effective use of advertising material and in-store signage.

You use proper layout and display techniques for merchandise, ensuring the overall visual aspect of the store creates a favorable customer impression.

You prepare budget estimates, monitor revenue and expenses, prepare reports regarding sales volumes, merchandising, gross profits, and loss prevention. You act as the CANEX local representative and ensure local concessionaire's corporate objectives are achieved.

QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED Education, Certifications and Licenses**An acceptable combination of education, training, and experience

Food Handling Certification, as required


Experience
In retail operations management

In planning, managing and evaluating the operations and delivery of marketing and promotional programs for retail products and/or services

In business planning and budgeting

In cost-benefit analysis

In preparing reports

In budget administration

In personnel administration

In drafting, editing, and interpreting policies/procedures for merchandise and services

In developing marketing and promotional strategies

In building and mentoring a team of sales people

In using inventory information software


Competencies, Skills and Abilities
Client focus, organizational knowledge, communication, innovation, teamwork and leadership.

OTHER INFORMATION
This is an on-site position in the National Defense Headquarters Carling Campus, 60 Moodie Drive, Nepean, Ontario.


The general work week is Monday to Friday 7:30 to 4:00 but will include the occasional evening or weekend as needed.

Performing moderate lifting, carrying, pulling and/or pushing might be needed (i.e. more than 10 lbs/4.5 kg but less than 50 lbs/23 kg).
