Southwire Job Description:


Reporting to Southwire's Director, Sales, the Strategic Verticals (Utility), Sales Manager will be responsible for the national development of developing winning strategies for the utility vertical execution by: creating a robust process for monitoring growth, researching and writing business cases for emerging markets/verticals, evaluating product and service gaps, developing a digital strategy platform, working with cross-functional teams on product innovation, developing marketing strategies and content, building a cadence for performance management and accountability, and reporting progress on vertical initiatives to senior management and collaborate with other Southwire business groups to share best practices on strategy execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze emerging technologies and trends in the utility market, providing insights to shape Southwire's strategies for sustained growth.
  • Evaluate major projects and emerging markets within the utility sector, creating comprehensive business cases to support sales initiatives.
  • Collaborate with sales, product management, engineering, and operations to identify critical growth needs within the utility vertical.
  • Drive process optimization initiatives within the utility vertical, identifying efficiency gaps and implementing improvements to enhance overall performance.
  • Conduct detailed analyses supporting strategic decisionmaking, considering technological trends, regulatory landscapes, and competitive intelligence.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements specific to the utility market, providing guidance on effective navigation.
  • Explore and integrate sustainability initiatives within utility vertical strategies, aligning with Southwire's commitment to environmental stewardship.
  • Maintain a focus on strategic planning and performance optimization, operating autonomously while aligning closely with senior management and other departments for crossfunctional initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key customers within the utility market, understanding their needs and ensuring alignment with Southwire's solutions.
  • Actively participate in industry organizations, professional associations, and networking groups related to the utility vertical.
  • Lead internal training sessions on industry trends, market dynamics, and new technologies, fostering a culture of continuous learning within the organization.
Other Skills

  • Prior sales experience with either distribution or EPC sales channel is preferred.
  • Requires strong financial understanding with analytical skills to work through complex issues in all areas of the business.
  • Must possess excellent communication, organizational and presentation skills.
  • Requires a team player attitude continuously articulated in a well thought out vision and effective communication.
  • A strong work ethic and the ability to continuously develop competencies of both self and others.
  • Flexibility and ability to handle multiple tasks with the ability to work around deadlines are a must.
  • Must be skilled at using IT Systems including, but not limited to SAP and other Southwire sales tools.
  • Requires up to 50% travel either independently or with agent sales force throughout assigned territory.
