CONSTRUCTION SUPERVISOR

Shift Schedule: Generally Mon - Fri; Shift days and times will vary depending on departmental and/or seasonal demands; Ability to work extended hours and days when needed required.


SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee, direct and perform various forms of labour on job sites to assist in the successful completion of construction projects from start to finish.
  • Ensure effective milestone planning and timely completion of deliverables on a daytoday basis, while communicating in a timely manner any obstacles or issues to the Project Manager.
  • Types of tasks to be delegated and performed include, but are not limited to, Load, unload and identify building materials, machinery and tools and distribute them to the appropriate locations, in accordance with project plans and Project Manager specifications; Assist in the preparation of structural foundations, build and position forms, rebar and wire mesh for pouring concrete; Assist in the assembly of grain bin structures, as well as handling and drying equipment; Assist in the dismantling of concrete forms and other materials after use.
  • Complete projects within a budget, meeting completion dates as set out in the project scope.
  • Ensure a clear understanding of goals and expectations, and communicate to reporting employees.
  • Knowledge of safe operation of custom hand, power and air tools, as well as equipment and various machining and fabrication tools, as necessary.
  • Assist with preventative maintenance duties as required.
  • Coordinate and communicate with Project Manager and other departments, as necessary, to ensure fulfillment of all construction project requirements.
  • Communicate to direct reporting manager all delays or variance in jobs/work schedules.
  • Demonstrate initiative to complete tasks independently, with the support of the Grain Systems department and other staff, as applicable.
  • Complete required reports/administrative work immediately/as required throughout shift.
  • Document and report defects, errors and discrepancies for inspection or repair.
  • Interact with customers, vendors and/or other personnel in a positive and courteous manner, maintaining a professional demeanor at all times.
  • Assist in facilitating orientation and hands ontraining with new staff, as applicable.
  • Troubleshoot areas of concern, identify and collaborate with Project Manager for efficiency improvements and/or quality of work/products.
  • Work in compliance with all administrative and health and safety policies and procedures, as per legislative requirements and as outlined in Company policies, including but not limited to, standards for cost control, waste reduction, quality, safety and complete and ontime delivery.
  • Report process deficiencies and any administrative or health and safety policy or procedural infractions, as per legislative requirements and as outlined in Company policies, to your direct reporting manager, or other designate as applicable, for review.
  • Assist in all departments, as required and directed.
  • Lead by example.
  • Other duties as assigned.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Valid Ontario driver's license and means of daily/reliable transportation to and from our main location in Dover Centre.
  • Provide leadership to reporting employees through effective communication, coaching, training and development.
  • Ability to work in a quality, results driven and fast paced work environment.
  • Scheduling flexibility.
  • Be prepared and punctual for all scheduled jobs and company meetings.
  • Stay up to date and adapt to changes in the workplace as well as changes to position requirements as required to facilitate proper business flow.
  • Be positive and courteous at all times, while maintaining a high level of customer service and professional demeanor; be an ambassador for Devolder Farms Inc.
  • Complete required reports/administrative work immediately or as required throughout shift.
  • Ability to work in any outdoor work environments (i.e., hot/humid and cold work elements).
  • Physically able to perform any and all construction work activities, including but not limited to standing/sitting for long periods of time, individually lifting and carrying heavy objects, up to 100 lbs, bending, climbing, reaching, and twisting.
