Purpose


The Commerce Engineering Technology Team is looking for an energetic and results-oriented Business Systems Analyst to lead the analysis, design, and implementation of a multitude of solutions to solve complex business problems for our line of business.

Accountabilities_**:

  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders, including business users, product team, managers, and other technology teams, to understand business requirements, processes, and objectives. Analyze and translate these requirements into actional plans and functional specifications.
  • Review test plans/strategy to ensure accuracy and sufficient testing coverage of changes being implemented. Identify and address issues, bugs, or discrepancies during testing phases.
  • Create and maintain documentation, including flow diagrams, user/technical stories, and confluence. Provide guidance, consultation, and support as it pertains to the team's systems.
  • Identify opportunities for business/technical process improvement, streamlining workflows, and enhancing overall operational efficiency to drive productivity and effectiveness.
  • Provide coaching, guidance and leadership for the team, and assist Director/Sr. Manager in resource management and recruitment and provide input into team member performance and development plans.
  • Analyze data to extract insights, identify trends, and make datadriven recommendations throughout the course of business.
  • Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in daytoday activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of daytoday business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
  • Champions a high performance environment and contributes to an inclusive work environment.

Education / Experience_**- 5 years' experience in financial/IT industry or relevant experience.

  • Knowledge of system design, data modeling, and software development life cycle (SDLC).
  • Possesses strong problem solving and analysis skills followed by good ability to evaluate alternatives and provide recommendations and solutions to complex and multidimensional problem.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, to build consensus and obtain cooperation from stakeholders, as well as time management and organizational skills to effectively manage deliverables, and planning of resources.
  • Ability to adapt and handle multiple tasks/competing priorities simultaneously.
  • Experience with Jira, Confluence, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Visio or equivalent an asset
  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, Information Systems, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
