Department Overview
The Productivity and Operational Excellence team is part of the Canadian Personal Banking (CPB) Chief Operating Office (COO). This function enables a systemic approach to driving productivity and efficiency in the CPB organization.


Reporting to the Associate Vice President, Productivity and Performance Management, the role enables opportunity identification, develops and maintains a pipeline of opportunities, and supports productivity and expense management efforts.


  • Support the execution and delivery of the Productivity vision for CPB and COO.
  • Help drive business performance to meet targets by enabling efforts to assess, businesscase, and prioritize expense savings opportunities, working with key business leaders at Senior Manager and above.
  • Work with key stakeholders to enable opportunity identification and maintain a multiyear productivity roadmap.
  • Support cost transparency analyses and efforts
  • Activity Based Costing, business casing, etc. to identify levers and develop productivity opportunities.
  • In partnership with the businesses and direct leadership, develop, maintain, and report on productivity metrics.
  • Participate in maintaining the inventory of process improvements and selection/prioritization of initiatives for the team.
  • Support leadership updates and communications on productivity and performance.
  • Support maturity of the CPB Productivity governance and operating model.
  • Be a change champion for process improvements and work with Change Management, Communications, and Training teams to ensure impacts to stakeholders are understood and properly managed.

Job Requirements

  • Business and financial acumen.
  • Strong quantitative analysis skills and experience with business casing, cost analysis, and financial/data modelling.
  • Comfortable navigating a space that is not well defined, ambiguous, and complex at times.
  • Strong communicator with an ability to clearly articulate the business issue, supporting facts, and the rationale/business value for recommended solutions.
  • Collaborative with flexibility to adapt and manage within a dynamic business environment.
  • Resultsoriented, confident selfstarter, relationship builder with the ability to influence and drive consensus among key stakeholders.
  • Highly motivated individual with willingness to take initiative and propose pragmatic solutions to complex challenges and issues.
  • Organizational awareness and ability to influence and balance viewpoints of various key stakeholder groups.
  • Growth mindset, curiosity, and drive.
  • Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, and/or consulting experience is a definite asset.
