Director of Information Technology (IT) Services
Full-time, Continuing

***Reporting to the VP Finance and Operations, this position operates as the CIO for the organization. The
Director of IT services is responsible for working with other departments to ensure that the University's
information assets, information technology infrastructure, systems, and services are integrated into and
meet the needs of the University's functions, complying with legislative, regulatory, and other external
requirements. The Director provides leadership in planning, implementing, and maintaining enterprise
information systems to support both distributed and centralized University operations, and a sustainability
and business resilience program encompassing risk management, emergency response, disaster recovery,
and business continuity.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Builds relationships to ensure that use of information resources and related technology is efficient
and effective and meets users' needs.

  • Identifies innovative technologies that support University operations.
  • Develops, implements and maintains the University's IrT control environment, establishes controls
to confirm compliance, identifies and analyses control exceptions, analyses root causes and
initiates remedial actions.

  • Identifies, on a continuous basis, local and international laws, regulations, and other external
requirements that must be complied with for incorporation in the University's IrT policies,
standards, procedures, and methodologies.

  • Establishes and maintains measurable performance metrics and processes for all levels of
procurement activities to include but not limited to vendor/supplier selection, performance, and
quality.

  • Negotiates and executes supplier purchase orders or vendor contracts.
  • Establishes processes to assess vendor/supplier adherence to control standards which meet or
exceed those of the University and comply with relevant legal, regulatory, contractual, and other
external requirements for the University.

  • Develops, implements, and maintains asset management controls to ensure assets are managed

  • Develop and manage longrange operating and capital budget strategies to enable the University to
accomplish strategic initiatives.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • University degree in a field related to business, information technology, or a relevant discipline.
  • 5 years' experience in an IrT management role.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to effectively collaborate and
- communicate both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading, coaching, developing, and managing staff in response to rapid
- changes in technology and business needs.
  • Strong strategic and analytical skills and extensive experience interpreting a strategic vision and
- industry trends and executing into a workable operational business model and strategic road map.
  • Strong technology background, current with new and developing technologies, and familiarity with
ERP, SIS and CRM systems with substantial exposure to both in-house and shared or outsourced
systems, multiple hardware platforms, integrated information, and communications systems, etc.

  • Understanding of current legislation, regulations and codes including but not limited to information
and privacy as well as experience implementing and evolving industry best practices through policy,
standards, and procedures.

  • Ability to develop and monitor multiyear financial budgets which are an accurate reflection of
planned/approved operations and projects.

  • Proven mission critical decision making around information and technology services.
  • Ability to work irregular hours sometimes on weekends or evenings when emergency calls need to
- be answered or planned maintenance or upgrades occur.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to plan multiyear projects in ITS.
  • Strong documentation skills.

The King's University follows a standardized salary grid. The salary range for the position is $83,000
