Description

Working under direction of the Director of Planning and Redevelopment, the Project Manager will be responsible for managing the projects that range from renovations to new construction and redevelopment of the facilities of the Hospital.

The position will oversee all aspects of projects and will deliver every project on time within budget and scope.

The Project Manager will work closely with other departments and stakeholders and will set deadlines, assign responsibilities, monitor and summarize progress of projects and prepare status update reports.


The position will also be responsible for managing the process of planning submissions to Ministry of Health for project approvals and will ensure that the hospital's internal policies including Corporate Health and Safety and Infection Prevention and Control policies and protocols related to construction are followed in design and adhered to by the contractors.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Planning, budgeting, overseeing and documenting all aspects of the specific projects
  • Reviewing of project documentation when consultants are utilized
  • Liaising with authorities of appropriate jurisdiction, and preparation of documents for approvals
  • Managing of contract administration including supervision of scheduling, review of project documentation and shop drawings, budget and project document administration
  • Working within the set project budget and schedule to complete project
  • Developing project schedules and phasing plans in conjunction with consultants' input
  • Reviewing and monitoring scheduling, cashflow and progress draws and making recommendations related to the issuance of Contemplated Change Notices (CCN's) and Change Orders for approval
  • Liaising regularly with users to provide project status, manage expectations and concerns proactively
  • Coordination of Hospital service departments (i.e. Engineering, Telecommunications, Information Technology, Environmental Services, Finance) via team/move meetings and/or regular project progress reports to ensure active input on project planning, scheduling and completion of associated assigned duties
  • Coordination of the commissioning of project including ensuring the provision of maintenance, operation and certification documents and postoccupancy evaluation with user groups and consultants
  • Performing all projects with mínimal disruption to the Hospital via hospitalwide communication when impacted and proactive execution of duties
  • Maintaining the master drawings of the facility
  • Overseeing coordination of all aspects of furniture and equipment planning, procurement and installation with respect to renovations and projects
  • Participating in construction site meetings as the owner's representative, overseeing all contract administration processes and reporting as required to the Manager and Director of Planning & Redevelopment
  • Ensuring the completion of project status reports, as required, to meet both hospital planning committee needs and the Ministry of Health needs
  • Conducting deficiency review and followup
  • Tracking all ongoing contract interpretation disputes for followup to assist the Manager and Director as required.
  • Overseeing the coordination of new and relocated phone/data and power requests in conjunction with the health centre Information Services department
  • Managing of billing, accounts payable, and accounts receivable functions for specific projects
  • Tracking budgets and spending on all corporate renovations projects
  • Overseeing regular reporting on hospital capital renovation and furniture spending for both nonclinical and clinical areas

QUALIFICATIONS

  • University degree in Design, Architecture, Engineering, or other relevant discipline
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive handson experience managing complex projects
  • Experience in Healthcare projects is required
  • Sound stakeholder management skills
  • Experience finding positive solutions to complex issues with clients and diverse teams of project consultants and specialists
  • Advanced presentation, consultation, negotiation, influencing and consensus building skills are required
  • Experience negotiating claims, scope changes and other compliance and contractual items on healthcare projects is desirable
  • Ability to communicate with a wide variety of stakeholders in diverse professions, industries, and areas of expertise
  • Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint, Visio, Project), Revit, Auto CAD, Bluebeam Revu, 3D Studio Max, Adobe CS6
