LABORATORY TECHNICIAN

Primary Function


This position is responsible for performing expert laboratory activities to industry standards, customer and Latecoere requirements for ongoing materials testing, certification and processes monitoring, validation, as well as development of standard testing procedures, test plans, test results analysis and reporting in a proactive and continual improvement environment.


Major Responsibilities

  • Develop material and process qualification test procedures to industry standards and customer requirements.
  • Perform chemical solution analysis.
  • Perform nonmetallic and metallic material testing.
  • Perform corrosion testing.
  • Material, process, instrumentation certification
  • Perform data analysis, interpretations and correlations using standard methodologies along with recognized statistical techniques.
  • Participate in the lab testing system improvement activity aiming for compliance to ISO 17025 or equivalent.
  • Perform test audits.
  • Initiates, investigates and participates in corrective and preventive action teams to address product or process nonconformances.
  • Participate actively in the implementation of industry standards, customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Participates in the measuring, testing and monitoring equipment calibration.
  • Participate actively in multifunctional team activities or focus groups involved in 5S, Kaizen, productionization, new manufacturing or test system (process, equipment, technology) implementation and validation, as applicable.
  • Carries out other tasks as assigned by the Director, QA in the QA team effort to meet set business objectives for the Quality Assurance Department.

Qualifications

  • Post secondary education in chemical, material science (physical metallurgy), engineering, or equivalent, diploma or degree.
  • Able to carry out all associated testing and other procedures with the approved standards.
  • Able to perform all required functions without direct supervision.
  • Ability to learn all standard software packages for documenting procedures.
  • Must be vaccinated against Covid19.
