Position Summary


Reporting to the Manager, IT Infrastructure, this position is responsible for assisting with the smooth operation of Buckland's IT Infrastructure.

This includes implementation, analysis, research, and problem solving of Infrastructure systems.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Following best practices to produce industry standard documentation, project plans, status reports, training material, as required
  • Analyzing and helping to resolve client and serverbased issues and problems
  • Participate and actively ensure change management processes for software and hardware upgrades are followed and improved on iteratively based both on best practices and analysis from lessons learned
  • Support of backup and restore environment for all servers and desktops
  • Assist department to ensure hardware, software and network are available 98+% of time on 24/7 basis, excluding scheduled downtime
  • Assist in the creation and implementation of policies, standards, and procedures
  • Consults with technical staff, vendors & consultants when the causes of related problems are not apparent
  • Identify vendor or internal gaps within Infrastructure bringing those concerns and recommendations forward to senior staff and management
  • Identify and recommend changes that improve the stability and reduce the risk from cyber security attacks and other inherent risks that occur with poor configurations or incomplete patching of software and hardware systems
  • Work with senior Infrastructure staff and Cyber Security staff to ensure best practices are implemented and maintained
  • Participate in investigations into problematic activity.
  • Identify efficiency opportunities and automation recommendations to improve day to day activities and monitoring efficiencies
  • Providing direct support to frontline personnel, as required when items are escalated from IT peers
  • Perform other related duties and projects as required
  • Successfully completion (or current enrollment) of two
- or three-year Computer Science Degree/Diploma or related technical courses (with CO-OP preferred) focusing on the following:

  • Virtual server technologies such as VMWare, Cloud Infrastructure and Microsoft Exchange
  • Microsoft SQL Server
  • Desktop support for PC environment supporting Windows 10 and Microsoft Office suite
  • Networking involving multiple platforms, Cisco/Nortel/HP/Dell/other vendors
  • Switching, Routing, WAN and Remote Access an asset.
  • 13+ years' experience with servers, databases and operating systems including Windows Server 2012/2016/+, Microsoft Exchange 2010/2016/+, SQL Server.
  • Microsoft 365 and Azure experience is an asset.
  • Experience in any of the following an asset; Exchange Server, Microsoft technologies, project implementation, EDI, and Business Re-Engineering, VOIP and PBX telephone system troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Experience in any of the following areas would also be an asset; customs brokerage, importing, exporting, logistics, supply chain systems.

  • Ability to selforganize tasks and activities vital to this roleValid Passport and ability and desire to occasionally travel to USA/Mexico
