Your role
We are currently looking for a Data Reporter to produce stories and features based primarily on data analysis and interpretation as well as interactive experience design.
More specifically, you will:
- Filter, analyze and interpret data to produce highimpact reports and original interactive experiences.
- Be proficient with the various tools and conventions specific to data journalism and programming.
- Ensure that your journalism complies with CBC/Radio-Canada's Journalistic Standards and Practices.
- Work with digital production teams (lineup editor, designer, developer, etc.).
- Assess features and behaviours so as to optimize the user experience (UX).
- Produce multiple versions of your story for different Radio-Canada platforms (website, social media, radio, TV, etc.) as needed.
- Present your story instudio on TV and radio as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- Five (5) years' journalism experience or equivalent
Skills:
- Very good general and currentevents knowledge
- Excellent writing skills
- Strong ability to synthesize information
- Knowledge of CBC/Radio-Canada's Journalistic Standards and Practices
- Proficiency with content management tools
- Proficiency with data spreadsheet packages
- Strong proficiency with graphic design libraries (Flourish, Datawrapper, etc.)
- Digital savvy
- Understanding of languages such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, D3 and Python
- Knowledge of audience data
- Excellent command of French
- Advanced oral proficiency, intermediate writing proficiency and advanced reading proficiency in English
- Theory test: will cover digital knowledge
- Language testing
