Foreign Credential Recognition (FCR) Navigator, Settlement Online Pre-arrival (SOPA)
(short-term contract to end of March 2025)
ISANS is seeking a Full-time
Foreign Credential Recognition Navigator, SOPA to provide employment-related services to pre-arrival newcomers who work in regulated professions and want to have their foreign licenses and certificates recognized in Canada.
Foreign Credential Recognition (FCR) is a set of procedures - often challenging, complex and time-consuming - that help verify immigrants' education and job experience obtained in another country and compares them to Canadian or provincial standards.
Reporting to the Supervisor and Manager, Innovation & Strategic Partnerships, this position is responsible for:
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Providing individual employment counselling and followups sessions related to the clients' FCR process;
- Maintaining familiarity with international accreditation processes in relevant occupational/professional fields;
- Providing detailed information about the pathway to licensure for clients in regulated occupations;
- Initiating and maintaining contacts with national and provincial (Ontario, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, PEI, and Newfoundland & Labrador) regulatory bodies, creating connections and networking opportunities for SOPA clients;
- Creating a repository of regulatory bodies' contact information that could be shared with SOPA Employment Counselors and other service provider organizations;
- Organizing and hosting information sessions related to FCR processes for different regulated professions; and
- Actively connecting to previous SOPA clients to find matches for informal mentorships with current SOPA clients regarding FCR processes.
General responsibilities:
- Provide information as required for internal/external reports and proposals, grants, etc.
- Review and adhere to ISANS workplace health and safety policies; safety is everyone's responsibility
- Record all relevant client information on databases in a consistent and timely manner as appropriate to the position
- Participate fully in regular staff meetings, team meetings, training and development and ISANS events
- Flexibility ability to work some evenings and weekends as required
- Ability to travel across the province
- Perform other duties as required
Education
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- A Career Practitioner's Diploma/certification would be an asset
Experience
- Two years of experience dealing with employment or immigration issues would be an asset
- Experience working in a crosscultural environment; experience delivering direct service to immigrants preferred
- Experience in facilitating workshops
- Experience in developing professional connections with different stakeholders
Knowledge
- Understanding and knowledge of Foreign credential recognition challenges faced by newcomers
- Understanding and knowledge of counselling skills, particularly employment and careerrelated
Skills
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Additional languages an asset

Terms of Employment:
- Short
- Fulltime, 35 hours per week
- Hybrid work environment: work location will be determined by operational requirements, prioritizing ISANS mission and clients to determine the right balance of inperson and virtual work.

$45,300.00-$49,816.47 per year
