Maintenance Supervisor

Supervises and coordinates Maintenance team activities engaged in the maintenance of Production and packaging machinery and other areas as assigned. This role will require weekend work at times to deal with subcontractors or supervising other related maintenance activities. This role will be integral to the Health and Safety of each team member at Voortman. This role will align with the company Mission, Vision and Values. This role must build strong relationships with internal teams to work together to meet Training goals. This position reports directly to the Maintenance Manager and is a salaried non-unionized role.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the bakery's maintenance requirements
  • Organizes and oversees the schedules and work of maintenance crew
  • Identify root causes of failures, take corrective actions and implement continuous improvement to maximize equipment uptime and operational efficiency
  • Oversee preventive maintenance and coordinate repairs to minimize production down time
  • Evaluates systems or facilities to determine maintenance or repairs that need to be performed
  • Assesses building systems to plan work assignments and project schedules
  • Ensures maintenance and repair work is completed correctly and in a timely manner
  • Identify Safety Hazards and provide technical support for corrective action
  • Enforce Safety, GMP, OSHA & SQF regulations
  • Assists in developing maintenance procedures and schedules in consultation with the Maintenance Manager
  • Assists in hiring and training maintenance department staff under the direction of the Maintenance Manager
  • Assists/contributes feedback in handling discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy
  • Assists with departmental budget estimates and costs of specific repair projects
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to identify issues and determine repairs that are needed
  • Ability to plan maintenance schedules for building systems
  • Excellent management and supervisory skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software
  • Observe production and packaging machinery, and troubleshoot any nonconformance to specifications
  • Ability to problem solve and find solutions
  • Demonstrated knowledge in leading and supporting a team in an agile environment
  • Proven track record of compliance and continuous improvement in improving safety in the workplace
  • Ability to provide training to develop and foster a results-driven team.
  • Excellent knowledge of troubleshooting, adjusting, or repairing of equipment
  • Working knowledge of work orders and preventative maintenance
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, as well as project management skills
  • Experience in working with operational budgets
  • Flexibility to work varying shifts or weekends depending on business needs

Education and Experience:

  • Licensed in Electrical or Mechanical Trade or Technical School Graduate
  • A minimum of 3+ years as a maintenance supervisor experienced in a unionized, strongly automated, fast paced manufacturing facility or 10 years' experience in an industrial maintenance role
  • Experience with food processing, HACCP, Continuous Improvement Process and Reliability Centered Maintenance would be an asset
  • Food, beverage, or packaged goods industry is a definite asset
  • CAMS and SAP experience is preferred
  • Sound knowledge of OHSA

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to traverse property and facility to diagnose issues and plan repairs or maintenance
  • Must be physically able to perform repairs when needed
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds at a time

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $85,000.00-$95,000.00 per year
