What You'll Get To Do
The Manager, Occupational Health, Safety & Environment is responsible for the development, implementation and administration of the Occupational Health & Safety programs and initiatives company wide.
They work within Calm Air's Quality & Safety Team to actively identify hazards in the workplace and provide corrective action solutions.
Operations:
- Work cordially with Management to implement and improve the entire health and safety program
- Coordinate the development of enhanced OHS programs and policies, in order to meet or harmonize with industry standards, or obtain new certifications
- Maintain, learn, and enforce the Health and Safety regulations, policies, practices, and procedures
- Investigate all accidents, incidents and near misses and provide recommendations for improvements
- Maintain PPE and first aid kit programs for all stations company wide
- Participate and provide guidance in the development of safe work procedures and personal protective equipment programs
- Conduct regular and random site audits and develop corrective actions to address areas of concern
- Develop and implement Health and Safety policies, procedures, education, and training
- Provides information and guidance to Supervisors, Managers, and employees on OHS matters as necessary
- Ensure Company's Health and Safety program meets or exceeds applicable legislation
- Develop agenda and organize monthly occupational health and safety meetings
- Ensure all health and safety related concerns from OHS committees are addressed in a timely and professional manner
- Acts as an integral part of the Quality & Safety team, actively working with the Safety Management System by performing risk assessments, investigation, and development of corrective actions
- Complete OHS Regulatory Monthly reviews
- Responsible to update the OSH Manual
- Other duties as assigned
Safety:
- Carry out their duties safely within regulatory and company standards, policies, processes, and procedures as trained
- Use and manage safety equipment (tools, Proper Protective Equipment etc.) as provided
- Actively identify and report hazards and deficiencies (when in doubt report)
- Assist in development of company processes and procedures as required
MANAGERS, SUPERVISORS AND LEADS - have been delegated the authority and are responsible to the Department Head to actively identify hazards and deficiencies and report through the SMS (Safety Management System) Program reporting system.
Communicate with all personnel within their respective department and other departments as required to maintain effective day to day activities.
Ensure regulatory and company standards are maintained. Assist in the development and maintenance of company processes and procedures. (Quality Assurance activities)Carry out their duties safely within regulatory and company standards, policies, processes, and procedures as trained. Use safety equipment (tools, Proper Protective Equipment etc.) as provided. Actively identify and report hazards and deficiencies (when in doubt report). Assist in development of company processes and procedures as required.
Leadership:
- Create and maintain a positive company culture that supports employee participation
- All levels of the organization share responsibility for human rights within the organization overseeing and promoting continuous improvement on human rights and employment equity initiatives
- Diploma in Occupation Health and Safety considered an asset
- 5+ years' experience in related role required
- Understanding and experience with Federal Health and Safety legislation
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, Adobe, in addition to internal systems
- Clear understanding and experience with Quality Assurance Auditing
- Aviation experience considered an asset
