Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient
- centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.
Position Overview:
Under the direction of the Operations Manager, the incumbent is responsible for the provision and supervision of Food Services in the areas of production, patient meal assembly and distribution warewashing potwash and waste disposal.
The Patient Food Services Coordinator plans and oversees the operations of patient services staff to ensure food is prepared and served at the proper temperatures in the correct portions to meet the nutritional requirements specified on the patient menu.
Experience:
- 35 years Food Service experience in a supervisory position, preferably in a hospital setting.
- Must have knowledge of beltline assembly, dishroom operation, quantity food production and the use of computers in food service.
- Must have or be able to acquire within a reasonable period of time a thorough knowledge of occupational hazards, safety precautions and regulations applicable to the area of supervision.
- Must have experience with human resource management including job interviews, performance appraisal, scheduling and disciplining of staff.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate):
- Successful completion of a recognized two year Food Service Supervisors program or equivalent or Bachelor of Science Degree, Human Nutritional Sciences.
- A certificate in Health Services Management is an asset.
Certification/Licensure/Registration:
- Food Handler's Certificate required.
- Training in Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) certificate desirable.
- Eligible for membership in the Canadian and Manitoba Society of Nutrition Management.
- Successful completion of the Tractor Operation Certificate (Manitoba Department of Labour) required.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Preference will be given to those applicants competent in an Indigenous language and/or knowledge in Indigenous customs, traditions and values.
- Must have excellent analytical, organizational, interpersonal and communication skills and ability to coach and instruct.
- English communication skills, oral and written.
- Compliance with workplace safety, food safety, and sanitation precautions required.
Physical Requirements:
- Visual, aural acuity and manual dexterity required.
- Position requires walking and standing for sustained periods.
- May be exposed to chemicals, moisture, odor and noise.
