    Your Opportunity:

    Reporting to the Unit Manager as Assistant Head Nurse (AHN) you'll be working in the AC department of the RMH Health Centre. Congruent with the values of AHS and the pillars of Patient First & People Strategies, this position is responsible for leading the coordination of an interdisciplinary team providing patient care on a rural combined Medical/Surgical/OBS nursing unit. The AHN acts as a coach and clinical resource/mentor for the team, responsible for the daily coordination of patient assignments and providing leadership to activities across the unit. The AHN is accountable for leadership in the application of evidence-based knowledge and critical analysis in the direction of high quality patient care. The AHN leads daily activities related to patient flow and enables optimal unit coordination in collaboration with the Unit Manager, educator, & multi-disciplinary team. Working within a team of compassionate and dedicated healthcare professionals, you'll utilize your critical thinking and problem solving skills to also provide direct patient & family centered care to clients as needed. You'll be responsible for guiding team members in assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of safe, quality care following policies and guidelines of AHS. While demonstrating a professional positive attitude, excellent communication, and interpersonal skills, you're able to respond appropriately to unit changes and prioritize conflicting demands. You accept responsibility for continuing competencies through ongoing professional development, including participation in education programs, & improvement activities. RMH is a vast recreational playground with scenic hiking & camping. Our multicultural community has a small town feel with big city amenities nearby.     As an Assistant Head Nurse, you will be responsible for staff assignments, patient flow and acting as a role model, clinical resource and advocate for nursing staff. In addition to providing frontline nursing care, as required, you will take a leadership role in the promotion of quality patient care and the implementation of operational priorities. Your in-depth knowledge and skills, advanced judgment and clinical experience, will assist in providing solutions for complex health care issues at all levels with patients, interprofessional teams, administrators and policy makers. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

    Required Qualifications:

    Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).     5 years recent experience in Acute Care Nursing. 2 or more year's experience as Charge Nurse. Preferred Qualifications:
