    Description

    We are seeking a skilled Recreation Coordinator to join our team. As a Recreation Coordinator, you will play a vital role in planning and implementing meaningful programs for our residents.


    The ideal candidate will have a College diploma in Recreation, Leisure Studies, Gerontology or equivalent and previous experience working with seniors.


    You will be responsible for assisting in the planning, organization and implementation of programs, maintaining effective communication and good human relations with residents, families, volunteers and staff, and attending in-service education to stay informed about current trends in elder care.


    Key Responsibilities:



    • Assist in the planning, organization and implementation of programs for residents in collaboration with the Recreation Manager & Executive Director;

    • Maintain accurate department records including assessments, evaluations of planned programs detailing individual participation, charting;

    • Foster positive relationships with residents, families, volunteers and staff to keep them informed of current and upcoming events;

    • Attend in-service education to stay informed about current trends in elder care;

    • Participate in team meetings to plan programs with residents' interests in mind;

    • Facilitate residents' participation in scheduled and pre-arranged outings;

    • Assess individual resident activity levels and prepare, carry out and evaluate daily activities;

    • Assist with meal services as required;

    • Work in a position of trust with vulnerable adults (residents);

    • Uphold and promote our organization's values and philosophy relating to ethics, morality and integrity;

    • Complete other duties as assigned.


    Qualifications:



    • College diploma in Recreation, Leisure Studies, Gerontology or equivalent;

    • Previous experience working with seniors;

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook);

    • Excellent oral and written communication skills;

    • A compassionate person who enjoys working with the elderly.
