Production Supervisor - Toronto, Canada - Select Food Products Limited

Purpose
Reporting to the Production Manager, this role leads a team to deliver high quality products in a productive and efficient manner.
The Production Supervisor is responsible for running a packaging line efficiently and effectively in compliance with health and safety and quality standards.
This role is wholly accountable for the people management aspect and efficiency of their line.Responsibilities
- Supervises a team of associates through daily production activities.
- Takes responsibility of the product quality produced within their line, and complies with the company's food safety systems, processes, and procedures.
- Stays alert for and troubleshoots minor equipment issues within line and escalates to proper personnel when required.
- Monitor, measure and report on production related process performance, general issues.
- Ensure that team members are accountable for the effective utilization of company resources towards the attainment of best operating costs and other vital KPIs such as OEE and Productivity Index
- Lead RCA investigations to determine root cause of downtime and/or line deficiencies.
- Trains new and existing associates on equipment setup, changeover, and basic troubleshooting
- Coaches and completes performance assessment of team by providing regular feedback and completing semiannual performance reviews.
- Administer progressive discipline when needed and motivate associates to increase their performance and behaviour.
- Reviews and authorizes time and attendance while managing absenteeism and tardiness.
- Devise, implement and monitor standardized manufacturing practices and procedures related to department's objectives.
- Communicate relevant company information to team through huddles, online communication, meetings, etc
- Play an active role in the company's continuous improvement plan to achieve plans for future growth within the company.
- Participate in crossfunctional meetings and provides relevant, effective information to other departments.
- Role model the Company values in leading Associates
- Responsible for food safety, packaging materials safety, quality & promoting the Food Safety/Food Defense program & ensuring adherence to the food safety program by complying with the SQF standards and regulatory requirements.
- Promote Company purposedriven, valuesled culture by regularly communicating with and listening to associates.
- Assisting in the creation and further improvement of job instructions, visual aids, and area housekeeping.
- Understand, comply with, and enforcement compliance of safety procedures and general manufacturing practices within the team.
Knowledge, Experience & Competencies
- 3+ years supervisory experience in a fastpaced production setting with at least 10 staff members
- 3+ years experience in food manufacturing
- Postsecondary education in Business, Supply Chain or a related field
- Experience working in a lean manufacturing environment is an asset
- Prior experience with coaching and training people.
- Demonstrated excellence in communication, problem solving and organization
