The York Region District School Board (YRDSB) supports a flexible working culture and currently provides the

This position is responsible for the scheduling, monitoring and performing of administrative duties within the elementary school and providing administrative assistance to the Principal and staff in compliance with Board policies and procedures.


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

To prepare, monitor and/or assist with school activities within timelines including:

To provide information related to the school, act as school receptionist, and work independently in dealing with parents and the public.

To maintain staff personnel files.

To liaise with the Principal in organizing office activities.

To respond to minor complaints and deal with emergencies.

To sort and distribute internal and external mail.

To work as an active team member of the school.

To attend meetings as required.

To attend professional development sessions/training as required.

To perform other duties as assigned.

STAR system, student information system, month end enrollment and Ministry statistical reports;
To maintain the integrity and confidentiality of student educator data using applicable systems;
Student attendance and safe arrival;
School year opening and closing;
Purchase requisitions and budget;
Purchasing cards;
Field trip requests including all financial transactions related to the trip, i.e. collection of funds, verification and preparation of deposit;
Supplies and consumables;
Staff attendance and timesheets;
Correspondence;
Statistical reports;
Petty cash and banking transactions;
Scheduling school and student events;
Maintain accurate student records;
Logging and tracking student medication.


EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:


Secondary School Graduation Diploma with one year of post-secondary education focusing on administrative studies or equivalent, as approved by the Board is required.

Minimum two years related experience is required.

A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Board approved/implemented software.

Proficient verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills are required.
