    Job Overview

    Reporting into the Business Development Manager, the Business Development Representative will grow strong relationships with their broker network and drive in profitable target business. You will be a key player in the growth of your broker territory. In order to achieve this growth, you will be involved in contracting new brokers, training on Wawanesa products, broker planning, pipelining commercial business and explaining Wawanesa's strategy.

    Job Responsibilities

  • Grow target business within your territory.
  • Maintain a strong understanding and knowledge of marketplace, products, brokerage M&A and how competitor products compare with Wawanesa's products.
  • Act as a liaison between Wawanesa and our brokers to ensure flow of communication and assist in solving any company/brokerage concerns.
  • Work effectively with functional departments and management to achieve plans and goals.
  • Assess non contracted brokerage opportunities and territories to achieve growth and production plans.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications

  • 7-10 years of relevant insurance experience of which 5 are focused on commercial insurance.
  • Knowledge of Life and Group Benefits is an asset.
  • Proficient Microsoft Office.
  • Strong planning and organizing skills with the ability to monitor performance and results.
  • Good presentation and training skills with the ability to communicate at the right level for the audience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Team player who makes quality contributions and supports fellow team members.
  • CIP or working towards completion.
  • Post-secondary education in Business, Marketing, Communications or a similar field.
