The Head of Partnerships, Distribution works alongside the Chief Distribution Officer (CDO) to drive growth by creating strategic opportunities through the establishment of new partnerships and strengthening existing ones.

This role will drive business development excellence across the Partnerships team and will bring the benefit of market insights into Aviva Canada to drive channel strategy.


The role has 4 main objectives:

Build, maintain and deliver from a pipeline of partnership deals Lead the delivery of new partnerships into market from pitch to execution and ongoing relationship management post live.

Deliver on target of $1B of new business from partnerships in 5 years. Drive product diversification across all lines of business to achieve profitable growth targets with all corporate partnerships. Work with PI, ABI, and GCS to build a reusable partnership that Aviva can take to market for new partnerships and deliver value on from existing ones

What you'll do:


Lead the strategic partnerships team through a period of un precedented growth as we look to expand the portfolio of partnerships inside Aviva Canada with the intention of significantly growing the ratio of overall premium through this channel.

This will require the business development and delivery of new partnerships and establishment of the BAU governance processes, new roles and structure to ensure success and to continue to drive growth.

This role will be part of the distribution leadership team and will play a key role in defining and implementing upon the channel strategy for Aviva Canada.


This role will include:

  • Development of a new opportunities pipeline
  • Delivery of clear strategic channel plans to deliver diversification and profitable growth in the right distribution channels for new and existing partners
  • Launch of new propositions, new partnerships and potentially new products
  • Optimize price points finding optimum critical point on price and win ratio
  • Analyze and optimize the current customer mix to more profitable customers
  • Develop proactive lead profit indicators
  • Drive growth thought L&L and HNW customer book
  • Develop robust targeted marketing and segmentation alongside the partner
  • Bring to bear the partner Brand and captive audience to build diversity to other markets
  • Deliver robust tracking of key partnership deliveries and governance
  • Provide world class account management support

Governance:

Lead regulatory and compliance programs related to role:

  • Act as the corporate representative to regulators, and represent the enterprise to customers, suppliers and external bodies in the development.
  • Ensure that appropriate audit controls exist and serve as the source material for regulatory reports.
  • Build and maintain controls to effectively manage corporate risk associated with your role.
  • Build policies and controls for the appropriate protection of enterprise information through a defined life cycle, from acquisition or creation to end of life destruction and disposal procedures.
  • Chair Executive steering committees with all partners and ensure appropriate governance structures are in place across the partnerships to deliver the right level of oversight and control for Aviva Canada

People Management:

  • Role model and drive highperformance culture within Distribution
  • Deliver effective performance to ensure achievement of partnership outcomes
  • Direct the work and mentor the team and other collaborators on opinions and other pieces of work across the entire Distribution team
  • Coach and mentor the team to support individual career and development goals.

What you'll bring:

  • Minimum of ten years postdesignation business experience in the P&C Insurance Industry.
  • Experience in Bank Assurance and partnerships
  • A graduate degree (e.g. MBA) will be considered an asset.
  • Governance and risk management experience.
  • Solid negotiation and relationship management skills.
  • Broad awareness of regulatory/ accounting regimes and local business environment in Canada
  • Seven (7) or more years of team management or leadership experience.
