The Legislative Assembly of Ontario seeks a Benefits & Pension Administrator who, as part of our Human Resources Branch, will provide integrated services for the calculation and processing of benefits, pension and pension adjustments as it pertains to payroll and human resources processes for the Legislative Assembly of Ontario, Parties and related Commissions in accordance with systems, policies and administrative requirements.

What You'll Do:


You'll act with integrity to:


  • Key and review transactions into the integrated payroll system to implement changes relating to benefit and prepare journal entries for input
  • Calculate Pension Adjustments (PAs) and maintain current all required pension and pension adjustment administration ensuring no backlog for payroll accuracy or yearend discrepancies
  • Calculate pension/benefits contributions for employees on leave of absence and process billing payments
  • Conduct quarterly audits of benefits information ensuring data integrity in the integrated payroll system
  • Maintain and coordinate WSIB invoice reconciliation and the WSIB payment file

You'll support our collaboration as you:

  • Provide on-going assistance/information and liaises with other members of the Human Resources branch regarding benefits/pension administration, transfers, pension inquiries, benefit inquiries and other payroll requirements
  • Work closely with the HR Administrative Assistant to ensure all documentation pertaining to the employee's benefits is filed in an appropriate file folder
  • Work with HR Consultants to ensure all benefits information is up to date

How You Qualify:


You demonstrate excellence through your:


  • Combination of education and 6 months to 1year related/onthejob experience pertaining to pension and benefits administration
  • Sound knowledge of pension/benefits as it relates to payroll processing
  • Detailed knowledge of payroll/records administrative policies, methods and procedures required for payroll system(s) and other computerized systems
  • Knowledge of relevant sections of Acts, Regulations, manuals and directives (e.g. Human Resources Policies, OPSEU, COPE and AMAPCEO collective agreements, Public Service Act, pertinent sections of legislation relating to CPP, EI, Income Tax)

  • The Office of the Assembly is currently in a flexible workplace pilot program. The program permits employees in certain positions to work some of their regular scheduled hours from a mutually agreed upon location away from the office without compromising the efficiency and effectiveness of the Office of the Assembly business or overall service delivery. Employees that are able to participate in the program understand and agree that they must be available, when requested, to be onsite as required and, as such, are required to maintain proximity within commuting distance in Ontario from the Assembly's formal place of business at the Legislative Precinct in Toronto, Ontario. Employees may be required to return to work in the Legislative Precinct fulltime at the conclusion of the pilot program._
