These positions fall within the pay band 14 range $117,597 to $156,795.


Reporting to the Dean, School of Business, The Chair, Scholarship & Community, provides leadership and coordination for the School's strategic objectives related to support and enhance faculty scholarship, research, and creative activity (SRCA), with a focus on community and societal impact.

The incumbent will establish resources, systems, and new initiatives, and provide mentorship to support SRCA that align with College and School strategic plans, accreditation requirements, and School initiatives related to the UN's PRME (Principles of Responsible Management) framework and sustainable development goals (SDGs).

This role will work closely with the Office of Research and College research centres to promote opportunities and supports for faculty and organize SRCA dissemination and reporting on behalf of the School, where required.

They will also work to establish external partnerships and SRCA opportunities on behalf of the School.


Responsibilities:


Scholarship, Research, and Creative Activity (SRCA) Leadership

  • Leading strategic initiatives as outlined in the School's strategic plan related to SCRA, through planning, implementation, ongoing monitoring, and review
  • Developing new initiatives or plans related to SRCA in response to new opportunities or developments, both internal and external
  • Contributing to future strategy development for SRCA in alignment with the College's and School's mission, vision and broader strategic goals
  • Establishing systems or structures to support SRCA within the School, and engaging in continuous improvement, to promote efficiency and engagement with faculty
  • Reporting on SRCA activity for use in accreditation processes, as well as dissemination and promotion
  • Liaising regularly with the Office of Research (ORS), research centres and other departments to facilitate SRCA activity within the School
  • Ensuring SRCA activity is compliant with ethical and regulatory standards

Faculty Support & Mentorship

  • Working with other Chairs, engaging in discussions with faculty about proposed SRCA projects and appropriate workload assignment
  • Regular meetings and checkins with faculty engaged in SRCA to provide support, resources, or guidance, and to set and enforce expectations for workproduct and deliverables
  • Working with faculty research mentor (secondment) and ORS to create training opportunities and SRCA communities of practice within the School
  • Identifying and securing resources, where appropriate and possible, for faculty engaged in SRCA
  • Promoting research/scholarship opportunities to faculty as they arise
  • Matching faculty expertise to potential projects, where applicable

Community & Impact Leadership

  • Working with faculty to design SRCA projects that directly and indirectly measure community/social impact
  • Establishing, tracking, and monitoring metrics and measures of impact in relation to the School's operations, activity, and output
  • Building a strategy for the School to evaluate and monitor publication and presentation output, in relation to impact
  • Liaising with external organizations and groups to establish partnerships for SRCA, in consultation with ORS or other internal stakeholders, in alignment with the School's strategic goals and SDGs, with a focus on positive social impact
  • Identifying, initiating, and operationalizing opportunities for impact creation for the School, both internal and external
  • Creating periodic impact reports for promotion/dissemination, and for use in accreditation or other strategic goals

Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Business, Education, Science, Social Sciences, Environmental Studies, or a related field is required; PhD is preferred
  • Minimum five years of experience in academic research and scholarship, or working with faculty undertaking research and scholarship
  • Experience with applied research,
