The City of Selkirk is currently in search of a Protective Services Summer Student, to join our team.The Opportunity:
Under the supervision of the Director of Protective Services the incumbent will be responsible for assisting the department with the development and curating of a Protective Services content library and assist with the creation of public safety information, departmental initiatives and other projects Information related to the Protective Services portfolio (emergency management, fire, community safety and wellbeing and by-law enforcement).
Job Duties:
Protective Services Initiatives:
- Develop and curate engaging content specific to public safety and protective services initiatives for various social media platforms.
- Produce creative visual assets (photographs, videos, graphic design) for website, social media usage, targeted public education campaigns and other resource materials.
- Assist with the creation of information templates and educational resources.
- Conduct research in industry trends related to digital catalogues and content.
- Ensure that all content aligns with City branding and social media standards.
- Assist with revisions and updates of any other documentation as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Minimum Requirements:
- Education in marketing, communications, graphic design, or related program at a postsecondary institution.
- Experience creating and cataloging photography and videography creation.
- Ability to perform research and compile analysis.
- Ability to prioritize tasks.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Selfstarter and ability to take initiative, including time management skills.
- Ability to work as a team and independently with mínimal supervision.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Valid Class 5 Manitoba Driver's License
Desired:
- Experience in WordPress and Photoshop would be considered an asset.
Comments:
This is for a casual position ranging from May to September 2024, with the hours of work operating from Monday to Friday.
