Description
We are seeking a Supervisor, Group Benefits Administration to join our Coughlin team in Ottawa.
The Supervisor, Group Benefits Administration provides leadership and administrative services to the Group Administration Department in such a way as to enable the smooth operation and administration of the Single Employer Plans.
Responsibilities include coordinating and facilitating day-to-day activities and setting up priorities as well as managing multi-functional activities of the department which includes establishing and enforcing policies, procedures and controls.
The Supervisor, Group Benefits Administration plays a lead-hand role by assisting, guiding, and training employees within the department.The Supervisor, Group Benefits Administration will:
- Provide general guidance and support to staff while fostering good morale and conflict resolution
- Coordinate and scheduling the activities of the department, including assigning work based on schedules, priorities, and job requirements, as well as establishing methods to meet work schedules and monitoring work progress and quality by conducting periodic checks with employees
- Resolve work problems and recommending measures to improve productivity and quality
- Assist the team as required with general administration and following up with any issues that arise
- Enhance communication between internal and external stakeholders
- Evaluate the status of the department and recommending personnel actions such as hiring, promotions, and training needs
- Evaluate the performance of employees, including providing input for performance reviews at several key intervals and discussing specific performance issues
- Establish benchmarks and metrics for all work activities performed by team members
- Participate in selection processes, disciplinary processes, and succession planning, as required
To be successful
as a
Supervisor, Group Benefits Administration with Coughlin & Associates, you will need**:
- 2+ years in a team lead or supervisory role
- Strong leadership abilities, including coordinating workflow, training subordinates, motivating a team, motivating individual performance, and assisting in performance evaluations
- The demonstrated ability to successfully manage multifunctional activities and to function competently in a team environment Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office, accounting software, and standard office administration procedures
- Excellent grammatical, spelling, and communication skills
- Superior data entry skills and strong mathematical and reconciliation skills
- Practical knowledge of accounting/bookkeeping theories and practices and banking procedures
- The ability to maintain good public relations, both within and outside the organization
- GBA or CEBS designation or working toward
