Payroll and Administration Technician

Summary and objective of the post


Under the immediate supervision of the Director of Human Resources, as a
Payroll and Administration technician, you will have full responsibility for the production of payroll for more than a hundred employees.

Working
closely with the existing
accounting team, you will be responsible for data entry, input verification and report preparation.

Perform
administrative tasks such as booking travel, order food and beverage, greeting visitors, preparing phone lists and other similar tasks.

Your
main tasks as a Payroll and Administration Technician with us will be:

  • Carry out all activities related to payroll
    production in accordance with the various laws and work conditions in force on a weekly basis (approximately 170 employees)
  • Produce, correct and adjust payroll according to various requests and obligations;

Inform employees and/or stakeholders on payroll issues;

  • Make enrolments, modifications or any other changes in employee files concerning
    group insurance and pension funds;

Track absences that affect payroll processing (leave without pay, deferred treatment, phased retirement, maternity, etc.)

  • Management of special folders such as; leaves, bank time, holiday)
  • Prepare deposit notices, payroll summary, transfer to the bank, remittance payments for all payroll groups (taxes, CSB, union, FTQ, etc.), records of employment and finalize the file at completion, and monthend reports, probation report;
  • Assist in the yearend process (taxable benefits, R1, T4 and T4A);
  • Participate in the improvement of payroll procedures;
  • Perform any other related duties as requested by his/her superior.

Skills required:


  • DEP or DEC in
    accounting and
    2 to 5 years of relevant experience;:
  • Experience using
    ADP's Workforce Now system (asset);
  • Discretion, professionalism, and who likes teamwork;
  • Rigor and
    attention to detail;
  • Responsible, autonomous and organized;
  • Accredited by the Canadian Payroll Association;
  • Experience in
    a unionized company (asset);
  • Knowledge of MS
    Office Suite.
