- Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years
- Experience: 2 years to less than 3 years
- Interview patients to obtain case histories
- Schedule and confirm appointments
- Complete insurance and other claim forms
- Order supplies and maintain inventory
- Determine and establish office procedures and routines
- Enter and format electronically based medical reports and correspondence and prepare spreadsheets and documents for review
- Supervise and train other staff in procedures and in use of current software
- Provide customer service
- Administer medications and provide advanced emergency treatments to patients
- Administer pre-hospital emergency care
- Transport patients to hospital or other medical facility for further medical care
- Maintain ambulances and emergency care equipment and supplies
- Document and record nature of injuries and treatment provided
- Assist hospital personnel with provision of medical treatment, if necessary
- Assess extent of injuries or illness of trauma victims to determine emergency medical treatment
- Train and supervise other ambulance attendants or emergency technicians and attendants
