The Risk Management Centre of Excellence (CoE) is a strategic business partner supporting Canadian & Business Unit (BU) leadership in meeting our Client for Life goals by providing comprehensive understanding of risk & compliance, contributing innovative solutions to manage risk and effective regulatory change implementation.


As Manager, Regulatory Change & Testing, you will lead and manage the intake of new and emerging regulatory requirements and manage several regulatory related programs with the objective of ensuring Sun Life remains compliant with regulatory requirements.

This role will also manage risk-control initiatives and programs to support the first line of defence stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Regulatory change management experience
  • Background in wealth and insurance businesses
  • Knowledge of wealth and insurance regulatory requirements
  • Experience in testing and risk management
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in regulatory change management or related functions (e.g. compliance)
  • University degree or equivalent
  • As this position is posted in several locations, we specify that bilingualism (French, English, both oral and written) is required
    for Quebec only as the position reports to a unilingual Englishspeaking manager outside Quebec.

Responsibilities

  • Regulatory Changes
  • Manage the intake, prioritization and rollout of new and/or changing regulatory changes to ensure SL stays complaint with any regulatory expectations
  • Synthesize business expectations to comply with regulations and guide first line of defence assessments that must be completed
  • Maintain strong working relationships with all business and corporate partners
  • Provide consulting expertise related to regulatory changes
  • Ensure timely and appropriate escalation of any program level issues/risks
  • Ensure that One Sun approach is taken where there are changes impacting multiple business units
  • Manage and chair regulatory change forums to ensure first line of defence units are aware and understand changes to proceed with change management
  • Prepare regular reporting related to regulatory changes and status
  • Act as program lead for regulatory related programs providing guidance and leading any changes required to comply with regulatory expectations
  • Address process gaps and/or enhance first line of defence regulatory related processes
  • Risk Control Programs
  • Lead and manage riskcontrol assessments providing guidance and direction to various stakeholders
  • Mature the methodology and processes to risk control assessments
  • Testing
  • Executing tests to assess the design and operational effectiveness of controls in place to manage risks
  • May lead and plan testing engagements (plan, execute, prepare reports, communicate results)
  • Support the identification and inventorying of controls to manage risks
