JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the Sr.

Manager, Facilities and Property Services, the Supervisor is responsible for the oversight and leadership of the day-to-day operations at Woodbine Mohawk Park (WMP).

The goal is to deliver effective and efficient oversight of the Facilities, Property Services Maintenance and Housekeeping Operations that will ultimately lead to an exceptional guest experience.


The Supervisor is expected to provide operational and site leadership by implementing best practices, structure, and rigor into the business, while demonstrating Woodbine's Values and Beliefs for our people.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide direction and guidance to team members in the areas of facilities maintenance, cleaning and property maintenance. Monitor performance, identify and recommend opportunities for development and growth and/or additional training.
  • Provide day to day supervision of the operation and maintenance of plant equipment (HVAC, fire protection, electrical, UPS, BAS, switchgears, domestic hot water, boiler, emergency power, generators, cooling tower, heating system, water treatment, natural gas, plumbing, elevators, escalators, building infrastructure) to ensure compliance to various safety rules and regulations and efficient working conditions. Report and follow up on faulty equipment ensuring safety to equipment operators and customers.
  • Ensure hourly staff complete all assigned tasks and that adequate equipment and materials are available to ensure effective and efficient responses to the client needs.
  • Manage daily staff attendance and scheduling. Ensure compliance to Collective Agreement and/or applicable company/regulatory agency rules and regulations.
  • Provide effective and efficient communication to Facilities maintenance, cleaning and ground staff regarding daily operational standards, prioritization and assignment of work, critical information such as compliance to various Acts/Regulations, and all other information relevant in the performance of their duties.
  • Adhere to the applicable Property Services budget, taking into consideration the available resources, the organization's priorities and the needs of the business units and external environments.
  • Responsible for the effective use of the Work Order Management System for repairs and maintenance of equipment and preventative maintenance programs.
  • Investigate and resolve routine, day to day problems related to equipment and materials and refer more complex matters to the Manager, Facilities and Property Services.
  • Monitor and bring to the attention of the Manager, Facilities and Property Services, unacceptable employee behavior or infractions to the terms and conditions of the Collective Agreement and/or applicable company/regulatory agency rules and regulations.
  • Maintain relationships with all departments to effectively coordinate work and demonstrate flexibility in filling work orders. Respond in a timely and effective manner to unexpected and immediate needs of customers. Monitor level of service satisfaction and deal with complaints and corrections immediately. Escalate any complex issues or complaints to the Sr. Manager, Facilities and Property Services.
  • Works collaboratively with Racing Surfaces team in the operational service approach in the areas of road maintenance, snow removal, grounds maintenance and training.
  • Provide support to Project Management (PMO) team and General Contractors as required.
  • Must consistently walk and visually inspect the facility and equipment. Be readily available to department leaders, staff and customers.
  • Complete End of Shift reports and relevant reports and documentation to Sr. Manager, Facilities and Property Services.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Knowledge

  • General to advanced knowledge of track surfaces and related issues.
  • General knowledge of horse racing industry.
  • General understanding of the operational and regulatory structure of horse racing.

Skills

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, leadership, organizational and management skills.
  • Strong computer skills (MS Office Suite) and able to multitask in an everchanging, demanding environment.
  • Must be flexible and innovative.
  • Ability to maintain and influence internal and external relationships.

Education and Experience

  • Minimum Secondary School diploma
  • Post secondary education (degree/certificate/diploma) in Property Services and/or Turf Management or related field.
  • 35 years practical experience in a similar environment.
  • Experience in managing in a unionized environment.


  • AGCO Licenses

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain applicable licences.
