What responsibilities will you have in this role?

  • Manages the job posting and closing process on the Outcome platform for all School of Fashion & Jewellery Field Placement courses.
  • Responsible for the case management of all School of Fashion & Jewellery students registered to a Work-IntegratedLearning course.
  • Escalates student and employment issues to faculty and the Field Education Manager, as required.
  • Prepares reports and participates in Program Advisory Committees, upon request.
  • Prepares and advises students individually and through classroom instruction to ease the transition from college to the Fashion & Jewellery industry.
  • Supports faculty in the individual assessment of resumes, cover letters, portfolios and mock interviews in the development of industryrelevant job search strategies.
  • Leads in the development of new opportunities by following up on staff and faculty leads. Strategies may include meetings/presentations to potential employers and networking through industry events and professional associations.
  • Determines opportunity suitability based on industry relevance and learning outcomes.
  • Ensures marketing materials are uptodate and assists with the organization of special events led by faculty and/or administration.
  • Solicits feedback from the employer about student progress on the job and ensures that students' learning outcomes are progressing.
  • Escalates performance related issues to faculty/management if conflicts arise.
  • Liaises with students and employers when documentation is missing or work submitted is not at an acceptable level.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

What qualifications do you need for this role?

  • Threeyear diploma or degree from a recognized postsecondary institution in Fashion, Design, or Marketing.
  • Minimum three years' experience working in the fashion and/or jewellery industry, including, but not limited to, design, retail, visual merchandising, marketing and communications.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of fashion and/or jewellery business concepts and labour market trends.
  • Demonstrable connection to Torontobased fashion/jewellery industry events and/or professional associations.
  • Demonstrated success in developing partnerships with members of the fashion and/or jewellery industry.
  • A high level of empathetic communication skills to deal with students with English as a second language (ESL).
  • Demonstrated experience in understanding fashion/jewellery employer expectations and communicating them to students.
  • Excellent liaison skills, diplomacy and professional demeanour.
  • Strong time management, case management, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to travel for site visits, trade shows, other campus meetings, prospecting, professional development days and workshops.
  • Demonstrated commitment in delivering excellent service to others as this is key in supporting the success of our students and our College.
  • Effective ability to interact with others and deal with situations in ways that respect diverse backgrounds, experience, and styles.
  • Flexibility in adapting to change and in participating in consultative decisionmaking processes.

Hours of Work: 9:00 am - 5:00 pm.

Interview process may consist of a practical skills component.
