Summary:


As a Junior Generator Service Technician at Total Power Limited, you will play a crucial role in delivering emergency services, performing preventative maintenance, conducting repairs, and troubleshooting customer generators.

This dynamic position entails testing and verifying electrical components, programming and testing transfer switches and control systems, executing startups and load bank tests, and fostering positive customer relationships through effective communication.

The role demands adept mechanical, engine, and electrical troubleshooting skills, along with holding a valid Ontario class G driver's license, and flexibility for overtime and on-call rotation.


What You'll Do - The Role:

  • Perform emergency services, preventative maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting, and instructional sessions for customer generators with efficiency and precision.
  • Test, measure, and verify the operations of electrical components, including energized components and electrical fields.
  • Program, test, and connect transfer switches to ensure seamless functionality.
  • Program, test, and troubleshoot generator set and synchronizing control systems.
  • Conduct startups and load bank tests as necessary to guarantee optimal performance.
  • Operate and diagnose enginedriven gensets powered by diesel or natural gas.
  • Cultivate strong customer relationships through positive and professional communication.
  • Maintain all company tools and materials, including maintaining an accurate inventory of parts.
  • Regularly communicate with the Supervisor on all servicerelated matters.
  • Complete required service and equipment performance reports diligently.

What You Need:

  • 12 years of mechanical and/or electrical experience, or relevant experience.
  • Ability to attain and maintain security clearances as required by government regulations.
  • A valid Ontario class G driver's license in good standing.
  • Proficient mechanical, engine, and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Availability for overtime and oncall rotation.
  • Ability to attain and maintain security clearances.
  • Postsecondary education in Power Generation, Certified Mechanic, or similar fields is considered an asset.
  • Experience with working on rental units, performing maintenance and repairs, and towing smaller units is advantageous.
  • Competency in using the MS Office suite, including Outlook.
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to work efficiently with mínimal supervision.
  • Willingness to work during power outages or declared States of Emergency by any level of Government.

Working Conditions:

  • Comfortable with frequent travel, with a majority of work being conducted on the road.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in all seasons, with approximately a 5050 ratio of outdoor to indoor work.
  • Mandatory afterhours oncall availability.
  • Capable of heavy lifting and physical exertion.
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours and overtime.
  • Willingness to work locally and throughout the Province of Ontario.

Salary:
$20.00-$30.00 per hour
