SUMMARY

Hamilton Kent is seeking for an energetic Maintenance Technician who will be responsible for the inspection, troubleshooting, and overhaul of mechanical systems used in production.

This position will focus primarily on the general upkeep, repair, preventative maintenance and safe operation of an assigned area and the equipment operating within.

Principle Accountabilities

• Support 5S initiatives by installing/maintaining work cell areas and equipment throughout the facility.
• Ensure that all production equipment is operational when it is scheduled to run.
• Perform necessary repairs, installations and preventative maintenance to keep facilities operating.
• Replace and / or repair equipment parts as required, ensure all equipment is properly maintained, lubricated, filters replaced.
• Ensure mechanical operations, standards and controls are maintained at high quality.
• Update the computerized work order system is updated for any work performed.
• Perform preventative maintenance and fill in data sheets for work performed.

Requirements:

• Completion of current certification of an Ontario Provincial, or an Interprovincial Trade Qualification (Red Seal) as an Industrial Electrician (442A) is a must
• Experience in maintaining industrial equipment.
• Basic mechanical knowledge and electrical troubleshooting skills are required.
• Basic pneumatic and hydraulic knowledge.
• Ability to trouble shoot electrical equipment problems.
• Must be eager to learn, selfmotivated to work independently and have good written and verbal communication skills.

Complexity and Judgement
Regularly encounters machine problems, which require judgement to analyze and identify the problem prior to proceeding with repair. It is critical to know when a problem is outside the individuals' scope of knowledge and ask for help. Work involves both routine and non-routine tasks requiring different and unrelated methods within authorized limits.


Contacts
Interacts on a daily basis with the maintenance supervisor, maintenance personnel, plant engineer and the production supervisors.


Working Conditions

Incumbent spends 100% of his time in the plant environment requiring varying degrees of moderate physical labour and manual dexterity.

Lifting, pulling, pushing heavy objects lbs.), standing and walking cover the majority of the work.

Personal safety is affected by exposure to heat, dust, noise levels and the use of equipment such as sharp blades and presses.

Considerable amount of sensory attention is required. Limited control of work pace and unpredictable workflow, bring considerable stresses to this position.
