    Support Staff Full-time New Position

    (First consideration for Support Staff and Academic positions will be given to internal applicants in accordance with the respective Collective Agreements)

    Reporting to the Director, Donor Relations & Stewardship, the Donor Relations Digital Specialist will play a key role in strengthening connections with the College's donors, partners, volunteers, staff, and friends through innovative social media campaigns. The incumbent will work closely with the Donor Relations team to engage various constituent groups across various digital platforms with the goal of implementing strategies that cultivate constituent engagement, stewardship, and friend raising efforts. The incumbent will also provide support with the creation of web based and documents for the purposes of stewardship and impact reporting.

    Successful candidates will be required to conduct work within Ontario and must be available to work on campus as required. It is anticipated that this position will meet the needs of the department through a hybrid work arrangement, working on site as needed.

    Responsibilities:

  • Develops and implements a comprehensive communications strategy to engage external and internal stakeholders (donors, prospects, volunteers, community partners, staff) including digital/social media channels and focused print publications
  • Day-to-day management of social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, and YouTube) targeting specific constituent groups (not the Corporate Communications Social platforms)
  • Develops concepts and compelling content across communications that highlight gratitude, achievement, events, and success stories
  • Curate user-generated content and donor/partner testimonials
  • Liaises with academic units/departments regarding content, communication needs and the development of effective messaging, and promotes the exchange of information
  • Accesses confidential information regarding donor/partner profiles for the purpose of developing an understanding of general and specific donor groups to inform the creation of proposals, communications, initiatives, and partnerships
  • Assists in the development of strategic and operational plans and campaigns to support department goals
  • Contributes to development of standard processes and guidelines around social media content creation, distribution, and performance evaluation
  • Documents and shares best practices for technological developments and digital communications based on industry trends
  • Works with internal colleagues to ensure legal and legislated standards are upheld (e.g., Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA))
  • Contributes to other research and development of social media content
  • Supports projects including: case for support, proposals, stewardship reports, documentation (ex. PowerPoint), programming, Re-Connections, media releases, and supports special projects (in person and online) as required
  • Qualifications:

  • Three-year Degree or Diploma in Communications Management, Broadcasting, Digital Media, Digital Communication, Journalism, English, Marketing or a related field is required
  • Minimum of three years relevant experience with communications, digital media, Canva, Photoshop, broadcasting, and marketing, preferably in an educational setting is required
  • Familiarity with basic graphic design, photo editing, and digital storytelling are an asset
  • Excellent writing skills with the ability to simplify complex topics into plain, accessible and relatable language
  • Demonstrated ability to create compelling and culturally appropriate digital marketing content for targeted audiences
  • Experience developing and executing communications plans and strategies
  • Ability to adapt to environments/audiences
  • Demonstrated interest in community development through volunteering, course work, etc.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and cultural competency
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
