Position Summary:

This position will be reporting to the Vice President, Finance.

Role and Responsibilities:

Planning, directing and coordinating all accounting operational functions, including:
Transactional accounting (payroll, AP, AR, bank transactions, recording of revenues) 40% of activities;
Managing the accumulation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting (ex. annual budget, monthly financial statement, weekly cash flow, journal entries, account reconciliations, variance analysis (actual vs budget) 30% of the activities);
Overseeing regulatory reporting, frequently including tax planning and compliance;
Coordinating and preparing internal and external financial statements;
Coordinating activities of external auditors;
Assessing current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement and implementing new processes;
Evaluating the effectiveness of accounting software and supporting database, as needed;
Hiring, training and retaining skilled accounting/admin staff

Skills:

Qualified CPA designation is preferred;
Minimum of 5 years experience required;
Excellent communication skills in English written and spoken as well as good communication skills in French is essential (intermediate)
