Position Summary:


Under the direction of the Manager, the International Student Officer (ISO) provides front-line services to international students, and clerical and general office support.

Acts as the main point of contact for the International Admissions and Enrolment Services team for stakeholders across the College, such as Contact Centre, Registration, academic department.

Monitors International Withdrawal/Refund inbox and responds to all withdrawal and refund inquiries.


Key responsibilities:


  • Acts as first contact for the International Enrolment Services team.
  • Refers students to the appropriate department for specific issues (registration, counselling, academic advisement, financial assistance, housing, health insurance, immigration or external organizations related to student services etc.).
  • Informs students of academic policy and procedures and refers students to IRCC website or International Student Advisor for immigration related advising.
  • Provides guidance on College withdrawal and refund policies and procedures, in line with GBC Finance, MTCU, Scotiabank, and CIBC policies.
  • Coordinates all office supply orders for the department.
  • Updating and maintaining the department's announcement screen.
  • Provides clerical and general office support, as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Educational and Experience Requirements:


  • Threeyear diploma or degree from a recognized postsecondary institution in Business Administration or related field.
  • Minimum two (2) years of office experience working in a team environment, preferably in an environment with service for international students, including providing a high level of customer service to diverse clientele in a highvolume educational setting., with demonstrated ability prioritize to meet deadlines.
  • Experience with coordinating financial transactions is preferred.
  • Demonstrated intermediate knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, and relational databases.

  • Solid problemsolving skills; ability to troubleshoot and resolve conflict exercising tact, discretion and sound judgment; ability to prioritize.
  • Excellent coordination, organizational and time management skills; ability to cope under pressure associated with the management of numerous highvolume tasks in a busy service environment; high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Ability to work in an environment where diversity of people and situations are encountered.
  • Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to uphold the College's priorities on diversity and equity.

Interview process may consist of a practical skills component.
